Initial impressions for me are very high. 9.5/10ish.
Visuals are amazing. So much symbolism. Its crazy. Definitely something that needs to be experienced, and not even being told would work.
A few gameplay elements are weak.
Auto save. Hate this. Especially with a death penalty. Punishing you for messing around.
Player is encouraged to ignore/completely act against pacing. Looking for secrets, searching trash cans and shit. BAD move. It really takes you out of the game, when you are "trying to blend in". and are ferreting around in every fucking purse, desk, trashcan, etc for cash, when friendlies are standing right there. that whole thing should have been rethought. It also kills pacing, as you break off, and do this constant searching like a 5yr old with ADD. Or you are giving a signal to run, and again, you are searching to make sure you didnt miss anything. Again, the autosave only really forcing to you be SURE you are done with an area before moving on.
Invisible walls.
Found more then a few. And worse, found places I thought I could jump, but couldn't (teleported back to jumping spot), then later came across places I could, but had stopped looking at, because I couldn't in similar areas earlier. Its not all that surprising given the "open" environment. I just wish it was more consistent.
Giant hallway. So far, the entire game has been 1 giant hallway.
The actual feel of combat is much much better then BS1. Pretty smooth and good so far.
(playing on hard btw)
Earlier complaint about Booker being a bit too chill about all the crazy shit is kindof right. the fully silent protag in BS1 kindof worked better because of it.
Just got a 3rd weapon now and... forced me to drop one. does this change or only 2 at a time the whole game? also, hate this too.
Also, everyone should rewatch, Master of the World before or after playing.
