I really need a new game. Should I just go ahead and drop the $60 on this? Or wait for a sale and spring for something else?

What platform? This is already $40 on Amazon for the X360/PS3 versions (been that low since May). $47 for the PC disc version and $60 for the PC digital though, sadly.

I'm of the persuasion that this is worth the full ticket price. I even doubled down and bought the DLC season pass.

If you liked HL2 or Bioshock then you will like this. I'm not sure what kind of gamer wouldn't like it. Maybe someone whoonlyenjoys Minecraft/DayZ type games.

Also, PC is definitely the best platform on which to play this game.

It's absolutely worth full price, you may want to check GMG and see if they have any discounts going though - they usually have like X percent off on Digital Downloads all the time at least.

Edit: Yep, GMG has it for $49.99 + I think you can put in a 20% off code: GMG20-JLKSA-7A8HA or GMG20-LLASD-D8WBQ probably work.

Gives you a Steam key.

Just finished this.

Shooting: Not great, poor combat AI and even lamer weapons
Atmosphere: Stellar
Level design: Uninteresting

Overall, average at best.

That's cool and all, but PC games are usually cheaper than PS3/360 versions.

You can usually find a deal somewhere.

The game isn't perfect of course though. if you read back you will find some discussion on its many flaws. What it is, is much like Mass Effect 1, a game that has a ton of flaws, but somehow manages to transcend those flaws, so the majority of players find it to be very memorable.
