The degree to which this company is determined to never get my dollars ever again is baffling.

Damn no update on Diablo Immortal..

Did you check Shanghai China? the Chinese studio producing the game should have an update for you

Blizzard is only acting as publisher. They're such a reputed brand, just having Blizzard on the box made sense.... I'd bet a million bucks the studio developing Immortal could make bank by releasing their own game to local markets in Asia and removing the blue off the box. They have actually already released a few "Diablo" games already. As they've been doing for the last several years. Blizzard has nothing to do with this game's development or potential success. It's international pimping.

IIRC, at the time of the reveal, the UI looked very similar to another mobile ARPG not associated with Blizzard nor the Chinese contractor developing Diablo: Immortal. It's been years and I thought this thing was supposed to be ready soon after being revealed, so who knows what's been since.

Correct the UI and gameplay was copied from existing successful models in the Asia marketplace. The contractors Blizzard hired are just plagiarizing an existing game. The contractors were already prepared to release their own ripoff of this "Diablo mobile" thing before Blizzard intercepted them.If they hacked and copied the source from existing Chinese games, would that really surprise anyone? It's China. Everything about Diablo Immortal is a farce.

It's a Chinese "studio" copying an actual Chinese studio of a Chinese game. You can say China three times when explaining Diablo: Immortal in one sentence. Very Trumpian.

Diablo mobile is not an original idea-- this type of game format was already done by another Chinese studio, with a lot of pay to win if I remember correctly.

Don't forget that the existing Chinese game was also being reskinned with Diablo 3 art assets, so it wasn't even getting new Diablo stuff.

Blizzcon(line) cancelled to the surprise of no one.
From this I am reading that future Blizzcons are going to be open only to carefully vetted journalists, influencers and esports players. There will be online tickets only for regular players with no chat function.

After the scandal there is NO WAY they will be allowing regular people anywhere near the Blizzard IP or even asking questions to their staff.

And by influencers I mean that they will be paying Ninja to play Overwatch and astroturfed diverse alphabet people to play WoW. They appear to have lost 100% of their WoW streamers but they may have some Hearthstone people left to pad the numbers.

They probably don't want anymore people asking if they are doing out of season April's fools jokes, or having to ask if people have phones, or you think you do but you don't.

These scumfucks have been out of touch for a long time now.

Exactly.

Their remaining goodwill from their early games dropped to zero the month BEFORE the allegations because of poor design decisions and slow release schedule.

It was far in the negative BEFORE bowls of fruit happened. Blizzcon would only be a source of further anti Blizzard memes.

Omg now I want to see someone ask if they plan on turning any more characters into bowls of fruit.

You're off on just one part. There will be no Blizzcon ever again.

They got nothing. Even Ninja won't touch the company. Why would anyone endanger their own brand?

You think "bowls of fruit" gets you AAA streamers with sterling safe Disney rated reputations, influencers, and "esports stars" buying tickets and journalists showing up?

A boycott is a boycott. There's no Blizzcon until the day the company shuts the lights off. No peer group would ever find it socially acceptable to attend this companies events ever again. This is a major risk to brand for any attendee. It's just not going to happen.

There is no more Blizzcon.

The future of gaming is aids. I wanna go back to a time of racist jokes, sexist and misogynist content, I want to watch movies like Commando from the 90s when they threw a pair of titties into a scene just because well this movie hasn't had any titties in it for a while. I want irreverent humor and off-color jokes. What a fucking shame everything has to he corrupted and tainted. Now we must have a trans-jogger hero and a sterile pre-approved storyline. I just wanted to play video games.

It's pretty funny to see how Blizz has devolved. They were always ungodly slow at making anything, even by the lackadaisical standards of game developers.

I'm not sure when they transformed into outright lazy - maybe around a decade ago? Post-Wrath of the Lich King era WoW? I think that was when they started really phoning everything in - the years of underwhelming stuff for Starcraft 2, the steady downhill decline of WoW, the debacle that was Diablo 3 at launch, etc.

Current Blizzard is now at the "Shaniqua working at the DMV" levels of incompetent, lazy, and entitled - all wrapped up into one multi-billion dollar company. I imagine that the impact of the pandemic - remote working means no one actually looking over your morbidly obese gender-queer shoulder - followed by the sexual harassment lawsuit and ongoing purge of what little old-school talent remains has gutted any last spark of work ethic at Blizzard.

Blizzard is so done and somehow FOH can't see the extent that they are done.

Bowls of fruit doesn't put asses in seats. For one, it does nothing to improve the optics of the corporate culture. The mainstream just sees it as confirmation of the rumored problems at Blizzard. Nobody in the mainstream scene will touch this company with a 10 foot pole. Especially not any influencers that are beholden to their peer group. "Wow, so asses really got grabbed I guess? Look at that fucking fruit" - NinjaFan01. Casual SJW observers see these changes as confirmation of allegations.

Two, bowls of fruit doesn't attract core fans that didn't buy into the whole workplace allegations thing.

It's a double whammy. Ninja is never attending Blizzon for both reasons. This company is no longer socially acceptable.

Is anyone even looking forward to D4? They are really at a stand still with their fanbase, gaming community and have nothing on the horizon. Bummer to see. But eventually you become to villain.

Yes, Cataclysm. They made a big deal of expanding the WoW team but I remember dogshit in game cinematics, that weird unpolished RTS minigane and the horrific Indiana Jones vs Goblin Hitler questline. They clearly couldn't integrate the new staff fully and ended up cancelling a raid and using recycled assets for the end patch.

Now Pandaria was really great quality but then Diablo 3 was dogshit, so I think they started having a cycle of losing staff to other companies or internally to other projects and needing time to train up the new people. Specifically game designers because the art team was usually great.

With the brain drain following Mike Morhaine out the door, the mass firings and people leaving because they got raped, I don't think they will be able to recover.

They don't have any successful teams to draw from either, like Square Enix had when they had to rebuild the Final Fantasy team after the disasters of FF14 and FF15. They got a guy from the Dragon Quest team to successfully revive FF14 and potentially the franchise if FF16 is any good.

Best they can do seems like getting the Crash Bandicoot remaster people lol.
