If Morhaime could or wanted to save it, he could've when he was chief executive. I suppose they could bring the band back together for some kinda FFXIV rebuild thing, but neither the rest of the market nor the gamers themselves will wait for them.

Dropping the ball while there are people like Square Enix or Riot Games to exploit your mistakes isn't survivable in any meaningful way.

Not worth it, even when Activision goes too Liquidate .. I don't think anyone will wanna touch it with a 10 foot pole.

Would it be worth it though , too try and save something that has already ran its' self into the ground... ?

This worked with 14 only cause the basic framework for the game was there, even then it was tons of work too get everything too the point of them going , "Ok time for a re-release." They believed in Yoshi-P and it has worked out great , and continues to be great.

With WoW now though.. there solution ? Just copy what the competition is doing. really ? They'll never have that same effect that a raid series like The Binding Coils has, especially for people who played before ARR's release.


They seriously need to sit down and decide what they are going too do..

I mean, ARR took a lot from other MMOs (WoW included). Taking ideas and polishing them was Blizzard's stock and trade.

Mike Morhaime doesn't get a free pass either. It's literally inconceivable that he had no knowledge of the corruption inside the company he built. He was there from the beginning.
Safe for now over in "Dreamhaven" land, I bet he winces every time he see the latest Blizzard train-wreck headline.

He let a senior lead designer (Furor) shout in his presence full volume and go on a tirade. Granted it was at a party-- but there is still supposed to be some respect for the executive level.

That's all you really need to know about how much respect Mike Morhaime got. He was a fucking bum, and everyone knew it.

I’m fairly certain in one of these threads I stated I think you would make a better game designer than anyone else on the current Blizzard team.

You play games and have a good understanding of them. I can give two fucks if you have a vagina.

Part of standing against the bullshit of #paygap and #metoo incorrectly being applied to all of society is calling out genuine examples of pay fuckery and sexual harassment.

She is clearly the more experienced of the two for heading up a game studio. She was in charge of a game studio with multiple recent successful releases that merged into Blizzard and then delivered the well done D2 remaster (the queue issue it has was... Battle.net... who was in charge of that again lol?).

Mike Ybarra is an Ion style internal promotion to level of incompetence guy who was in charge of the Battle.net tech guys. No experience dealing with creatives at all.

Now if you want to say that she is an empty suit who contributed nothing other than her race/gender, I'm all for hearing about it. But you need some sort of factual basis for saying that, which nobody has provided.

From the articles it says that they both went into the co-lead roles with their current salaries from their previous positions. Mike was making more at his job than Jen was, both of them lobbied upper management to give them the same pay, and it was denied. Jen put in her resignation and then they offered her equal pay, but she's still leaving.

Regardless of the facts, the optics are terrible on this. "muh diversity Blizzard", promote a woman to be co-lead and pay her less than her male counterpart, no ones going to read past that.

we don't know anything about that chick and why she is 'making less than the the men" does she have the same credentials? certifications? qualifications? years of experience? competance? all we know is she's a woman and some man, who is also a mystery box, makes more than her (she says). what is her title?how many of those are there? is she comparing the chief of x to the chief of y? those jobs often make diferent wages.

there's a metric shit load of reason women make diferent money. it's not always because they're bad negotiators, or that the whole world is engaged in a conspiracy to only pay the bitchiest slice of society the least.

The reason why is mostly understandable. However does Battle.net infrastructure make more money than Vicarious Visions? Maybe but I see those remasters in every store and Blizzard Tokens only in specialist gaming stores. Blizzard income is a team effort with all the other teams too.

They had a chance to rectify it though and didn't.

Who knows what happened after she quit. Maybe she felt that bridges had been burned and it was a symbolic offer for PR reasons they didn't expect her to accept, maybe she got a better offer.
