Less Harrow is just a terrible idea. I can get behind more Alden but less Harrow is once again a terrible idea.

And rightfully so. He got absolutely fucked in that whole transaction. Maybe taught a lesson too, but you can't blame him for being salty.

Good opener to the season, though I'm still not clear on everyone Harrow was clearing out before making it to his sister's house.

I have to jump on the bandwagon of "less Harrow" hate. Definitely do not want less of him! Van Alden was sorely missed though. I was kind of tired of the Nucky plot with the chick right from the get go, but was glad it was just kind of there to show Nucky ain't going to be a sugar-daddy.

What were the papers that Nucky was looking at, at the end? Something to do with Florida. I got the note that looked like it was signed by William McCoy but I just wasn't sure what exactly those papers were.

Jesus, I don't want to be anywhere near Dunn when it comes to be his time. He's got something epic coming his way, and it ain't a shoe shinning.

They already established Harrow as a total bad ass ala season 3 finale. I don't understand why he had atleast 10 mins of this episode just going around killing people. I think they could've used the time more better with other characters. It's been 8 months since the finale.

Because it was feeding us a mystery that's taking more than one episode to tell its story. He started at the end of the chain with the two hitmen outside the restaurant and then he moved to the middleman at the insurance office. Presumably he gave Harrow enough info before being killed rather nastily that he knows who to go after next, who the chap from Milwaukee (sp?) is who gives him the orders.

We already knew he was a badass as you've said but now we're seeing Badass P.I. and if you're not right with that then frankly you are a terrible person irl.

Harrow is about the only reason to watch BE... nucky and his entire family is boring, actually all the white ppl are boring, just have this season focus on Chalky and his crew and Harrow and ratings will soar!

I don't get the Nucky hate by some people on this forum. Almost all of his story arcs are great. Dude is awesome at turning very unfavorable situations into huge wins. I like seeing that process.

the character has been very reactionary so far, just kind of doing random shit when he is forced to instead of actively progressing plots. Its gotten better of course in the last season. He always has that "eh... whats going on here..." pug-face to everything. In a shitty show it wouldn't really be noticed, but with the caliber of personalities and actors surrounding him it hasn't really felt like Nucky is a mob boss but just a lucky guy. I like Steve Buscemi but to be honest I think he was miscast here, needed someone more forceful and larger than life to play that character. Every time he has a scene with Rothstein, Chalky, Rosatti, Harrow, etc he just seems like a small mouse. Might just be me though.

Never put together the mortgage and stuff that Harrow apparently took, I thought he was still cleaning up Rosattis crew. Cool, so I guess he was just taking care of sister business? Hope they explain that stuff more next episode, I had no clue who Harrow was going after.

Honestly, I think Michael Shannon would have been great in the Nucky role. I agree, Buscemi doesn't really seem to fit well, don't get me wrong, he's good, but there is something off when he tries to be really confident and strong. He plays a better devious/psycho character or a more comedic one. The parts where he is being funny, or snapping at people, are great--like whenever he interacts with his butler....but the guy has one setting for intimidation and that's that psychotic/sick look, like he had in the Sopranos, or Reservoir dogs or Con Air. He just doesn't do imposing very well withoutthat"I'm going to skin you alive" look--and where Nucky is suave, pin stripe gangster, he can't tap that.

Good first episode - still my favorite show on television at the moment. I struggle to see Shannon in the Nucky role, but maybe its just me. Buscemi nails it for me, in a "I'm smarter/more clever than you please don't punch me" kind of way. Knowing nothing about Nucky and his actual real life persona, that's good enough for me. The Capone scenes were fantastic as usual, and the scene where the Butler kicks the skank out of Nucky's hotel after she revealed she fucked him so he'd push along her career like Billy's was great as well. The end of last season is still some of the all-time great television that I've ever seen so I'm excited to see where they take this season w/ the Harlem guys.

First episode and Harrow already has 3 kills. I like where this season is going.

This.

Personally I believe the Harrow killing spree is related to his sister. After the first kill you see him take a deed. Maybe it's the deed to her home and property? He's clearing the way for a sanctuary? If you watched the preview of this Sunday's episode, his sister asks him for a "favor" because she has some trouble. Maybe it's related? Either way, I fucking love me some Harrow.

she finds out nucky is with billie (movie star?/show girl?) then she has fun with owen again, the club blows up billie dead, nucky in pain retaliates, sends owen to do it, he dies in a box, she freaks out, spills the beans on her affair, she leaves, he wins, she doesn't want to come back, i think that's it, now nucky get's to... have nucky with a blond?
Did I completely miss something? Nucky seemed genuinely shocked that Margaret and Owen were having an affair.

Edit: Nevermind. I guess I read that too quickly. I thought you said Nucky sent Owen to his own death out of retaliation for his affair with Nucky's wife.

I wonder who they are going to get to play Jerry Horwitz, aka Curly Howard, of Three Stooges fame. It's a little known fact, but he was a vicious gangster during Prohibition before he became a comedian. His name was
