I knew there was no way Maidana was going to get the decision unless he scored a knockdown. None of the judges want to be seen as the bad guy who 'robbed' his zero. It was a very close fight, though. Floyd is human, after all.

Obviously in rounds which are "draws" they are going to favor the champion, but 117-111 is awful.

it was floyd 115-113 or a draw. Maidana did some nice work, but he took some rounds off that he could have one had he pressed a little more. Then again, im sure its frustrating as hell when hugs you everytime you get close.

The glove issue was amusing. I would think if they said it's ok then Floyd wouldn't have any room to make him change his gloves. I guess not. To be fair they both ended up using the exact same gloves so I don't see how it was unfair for either of them.

Did they? I thought Floyd wore his typical Grant gloves and Maidana got stuck with a stock pair of Everlast gloves. I can see how it would bother him a bit, only b/c the gloves he wears are custom made to fit him. I don't think it would have changed much in the fight tho. Floyd seemed to be dealing with his power ok.

Floyd wears very heavily padded gloves because he has brittle hands. Of course he would want a heavy handed opponent to wear more padded gloves. However, their contract didn't specify what brand or model they had to wear. So trying to force him to change is pretty bullshit.

Floyd was trying to make him change brands (to Grant or Reyes, I believe). However, he eventually got to use Everlast PowerLock...but not the MX that he wanted and trained with (which were approved by the commission).

Not saying it would have made a huge difference, but the MX gloves match Maidana's style much better.
