Geale is good. And most everyone he's beaten recently has been top 10. His biggest issue is that the top 5 want nothing to do with him. Hell, when champions in weight classesabovehim say they want no piece of Golovkin, it's really not shocking that so many are running scared. Hell, JCC Jr turned down $12-$17 million guaranteed to avoid fighting GGG.

And personally, I don't really think his defense is that suspect. I think once he feels comfortable with his opponents' power he willingly takes risks so that he can 'Good Boy' them. Either way, we've yet to see him hurt by any punch whatsoever.
there was politics behind JC. He would have fought him had Bob Arum not attached the bullshit fights. ITs well known JCC wants out of Top Rank boxing. He has 1 fight left. JCC said if you give me them 12 million i will fight him, but what he didnt want was the 2-3 more matches after that for Top Rank. There's a reason why he hasnt fought in a year. Bob Arum is a fucking scumbag.

He's contractually stuck with Top Rank until October 2015 regardless of how many fights he does. So no, I don't really see what the issue is. He could have just done 2 more fights in that time period and gone on his way. The only reason Top Rank has leverage now is because he doesn't have guaranteed money. However - the offer Arum made would have changed that, and given JCC Jr more power in future negotiations (or the ability to just walk away).

JCC Jr asking for $12 million for a one-off fight with GGG is a fucking joke. That's 4x what he made against Martinez.

In my opinion, the offer Arum made for a 2 fight deal was more than fair, and JCC Jr was either a fool or too scared of GGG to take it.

its supposed to be 1 fight or until 2015. If it wasnt, there wouldnt be a clause that stated you need to fight 2 more fights under top rank boxing. JCC was asking for 12 million because he sells pay per views. Despite what anyone else wants to think of hiim as a boxer, he brings in ALOT of money and 12 million is probably on the lowball side of things for what he can sell.

He won his last fight, so why would he not box for a while year? it makes 0 sense. He's constantly posting videos and pictures of him training waiting for an opponent.

Again, Bob Arum is a scumbag. There's a reason why boxers are leaving him left and right and all he has left outside of JCC for one last fight or until october is Manny. He also has his Manny fighting fucking Chris Algerie. NO ONE WANTS TO SEE THAT SHIT BUT Filipino's. lol

found this on espn. I didnt really do too much digging though

Golovkin, who was willing to move up in weight, signed for the 12-round super middleweight fight weeks ago, but Chavez and Top Rank have been going back and forth, unable to come to terms. Arum said Chavez's contract with Top Rank expires in October 2015 and one of the central issues in the negotiation for the Golovkin fight was Top Rank's desire to have him sign an extension, but Chavez did not want to.

Arum said he relented on insisting on the extension and instead presented Chavez with two proposals. Under one proposal, Chavez would earn a certain amount of money to fight Golovkin without an extension. He would earn far more for the fight if he accepted the proposal with the extension.
It was also 6million and like a 3 fight extension. Possibly 2. depends on who you believe.

Boxing without any 1 major poss is a fucking clusterfuck at times. People talk shit about Dana White all the time, but at least he makes fights happen.

As much as I wanted to see the GGG vrs Chavez fight, it didn't make sense on the business side for Bob Arum to make it. Sucks, but I understood why that fell a part. Arum isn't going to lose a fighter and pay such a large purse on his last fight. If Chavez took a lot less for that fight, it would have happen. He wanted a large purse and his freedom. Arum wasn't going to just accept the short end of the stick for our sakes.

Except, it's not. He's not contractually obligated to fight more than 1 fight until 2015, but he can't just join another promoter either until the current period expires.

The business side made perfect sense for Chavez, yet he still turned it down. He could have been pummeled to a bloody pulp by GGG and still made more than he's ever before in a single fight, no matter who the opponent was. I don't see how anyone can defend that decision. Now he's going to have 1 fight in 1 year's time and effectively losing money.

Bob Arum might be a scumbag, but this deal made sense for both of them.

He turned it down bc it was an either or situation. It didn't work for either party tho. The deal was sign an extension and get a lot of money to fight GGG or don't sign an extension and get a lot less money to fight GGG. I forget the numbers but I think it was like 10 million on the line. Chavez wanted a lot of money but also his walking papers. It made no sense for top rank bc they weren't going to make much from that deal.

In other new.. Kovalev and Hopkins signed to fight in November!

He's stuck with Top Rank until late 2015. During that time he can earn 12-17 million guaranteed (GGG fight + 1 more) - and then still walk away at the end of the 2015.

How the fuck does that not work out for him? He's not going to be fighting anyone else in that time period anyways.

I think Top Rank are shady as fuck most of the time. But I think they actually made a very fair offer in this situation.

It's what I expected. Floyd proved again that he can win and take very little risk by doing so

He just really needs to fight Manny. It will always hang over his head if he doesn't.

At this point, Manny and Keith Thurman are the 2 fights I want to see him take. Unless he goes up for a title at 160 which is kind of unrealistic.
