Can explain it as a plot to take Gus down after the falling out, because Hank didn't start investigating Gus until after the hit. I mean, it fits together really well.Well he mentioned how Hank had a falling out with Gus, which may imply Gus was holding a bunch of money he owed Hank. Another hole to the "confession" is Hank was being very open with his coworkers about his suspicions of Gus, and that just doesn't make sense if he's also working with him.
Hank destroys the competition locally. He goes down south, and all the DEA there are killed to make way for Gustavo's war against the cartels, except him (Inside Man). Back at home Jessie is snitching about Hank's abuse of Walter to Gustavo--so Hank beats Jessie down....Gustavo sees Hank stepped out of line and hurt Jessie, so he orders a hit on Hank. Hank survives the hit but his money is gone, Gus takes it, so Hank takes Walt's money for recovery. Then Hank has his "revelation" and starts investigating Gustavo after the hit, even when ordered not to by the DEA (Will now be assumed it was retribution for the hit). When Hank can't make anything stick and is forced to back off by the DEA--another tip about a possible hit came in and Hank was defended by the DEA. Now that will look like Hank was planning to war with Gustavo after he exhausted his corrupt legal route (Hank knew Salamanca--so Hank planted the bomb while using the DEA as bodyguards.)
A lot of loose ends created by Hank's Sherlock Holmes and extreme luck (Surviving the bomb) like abilities would be neatly filled in by him being dirty.
