Oh, so internet assholes are the self appointed "revenge police" who have the right to destroy a life of a girl they've never known because she allegedly cheated on her boyfriend, something that doesn't concern them and is frankly none of their fucking business? Then there's the fact that they didn't even need that (completely irrelevant) excuse to do the shit they did, they just latched onto that because they were already angry that she was a female game designer who didn't make a game that fit their idea of what games should be.

What about Phil Fish? All he did was express (completely justified) disapproval of these disgusting actions and he had his social insurance, banking, and personal information made public. Does that also fall under "what goes around comes around"?

Hard to comment on the Zoe Quinn thing, lots of bullshit surrounding it (Not sure if the Chans are just annoyed the game sites aren't caving and so are taking "bad" personal details to character assassinate her OR if she is a truly shitty person who hides behind "zomg misogyny!" when she is finally called on it). Really hard to say which one is true...but you realize, it's NOT due to just her cheating right? There is A LOT more to the story. I don't think their harassment is right, especially the RL stuff--but that's an awfully myopic way of putting the issue, Tan. It goesmuchdeeper than that; and a bulk of it is based around the incestuous nature of the Indy-development-journalism community, which has been in the spotlight a lot lately. (Again, caveat--it's hard to know how much of that depth is just made up outrage, or real.)

Right now, I've been trying to run down weather or not this is true. It's increadibly shitty if it is....(Not justifying her RL harassment, but it would go a long way towards explaining why the back lash came so hard and heavy, if she went around doing shit like this in the Indy community.)

the problem as I see it is they control the narrative of said shaming into a simplistic trope that shows how they are actually the victims, it works in their favor in the end, they literally are professional victims, they've learned how to monetize faux victim hood.

only in media where the narrative can't be tightly controlled are professional victims exposed for what they are but where they can control the narrative they profit from it.

If she had been a man and pulled that kind of shit, would he have gotten the same backlash from 4chan? Would he have had personal details about his personal and sex life made public? Would he have had nude pictures circulated, been called a "slut" and a "whore"?

Now tell me it's not about gender or character assassination.

At least you're not defending her harassment (unlike Mkopec), so fundamentally we seem to agree that what happened to her was wrong, regardless of what offenses she may have committed.

Honestly, it seems like a lot of these guys are just like looters. They don't give a shit what's actually happening, they're just opportunists who get off on using the internet to bring misery to other people. If that person is someone they can easily put a label on that everyone loves to villainize, great! They can pretend they are warriors for justice!

I love the internet, it has dramatically changed society forever. But damn, it sure has highlighted how shitty people can be.

yes actually because all the men she slept with that had an effect on their professional integrity have had people ask for their jobs to be revoked or other reprisals for breech of ethics, nathan grayson for example is an insufferable sjw reporter and people asked that he be fired.

even in the present case when you look at reality it's blatantly different than the false attempt to control the narrative.

Did she rape anyone? No? So what the fuck do you or anybody else care who she fucked and for what reason? Everyone who fucked her did so willingly. She didn't break any laws. That's between her and the people she fucked, andwhoevershe fucked forwhateverreason, it doesn't justify an organized harassment campaign designed to ruin her life.

And you know what? If she can turn this around to get support from the public, GOOD FOR HER. Show those 4chan fuckwits that their attempts to bring her down backfired and gave her even more power as a "victim". Maybe they'll think twice before their next harassment campaign.
