You could reduce the gap in standards without completely removing it. Not necessarily perfect but probably better than the current standard gap.LOL - supports double standards then claims

I just wanted to comment on this. Having only been in the Coast Guard I cannot speak to how other branches handled their boot camp. How ever we had one shower with 6 shower heads and about 50 people that had to share it. You pretty quickly lose any sense of embarrassment when you are showering with 5 other dudes.Second, I'd be no more embarrassed to shit explosive bloody diarrhea into an mre bag in front of a woman than I would be to do it in front of a man, and I imagine that a woman would probably feel the same.
Well the Caracal Bn is like 70% female.Yeah that's why I didn't cite Israel because those aren't even integrated units are they?
My position is that I want to see how women perform when they are held to the same reasonable standards and expectations as male recruits from the moment they hit basic, given the same training, and receiving the same experience. We're not talking about special forces, we're talking regular line unit service. This isn't the NFL, they don't need to be the best of the best, they just need to be good enough. If, under those conditions, with sufficient years and combat actions to form an adequate amount of data to form clear, empirical conclusions, women are consistently found to individually perform poorly in combat or integrated units are consistently found to perform significantly worse than all male units, then I would agree that women would deserve to once again be excluded from direct combat duty.
I think we can give them a fair chance without seriously jeopardizing the combat capabilities of our military.
As a personal aside, fuck you. This isn't the NFL, they don't need to be the best of the best, they just need to be good enough.
Agreed! Don't think anyone would disagree with this except Muslims.I don't care if only a handful of women are good enough to pass the same standards as men, if they can pass them they should get their chance.
I'm sorry, what the shit do you know about what a line unit is expected to do? Kick doors? Clear houses? Easy fucking peasy right? Settle down pink palms. "Grunt work" indeed, if you think we rely on arty and air support to do the job, you're far dumber than I give you credit for. "Just kick in a door and kill everyone that's shooting at you." #cakewalkUh, by saying that I want to see how they perform when held to the same standards, aren't I tacitly acknowledging that they currently aren't held to the same standards? I know the PFT standards are different. I'm saying if a woman wants to serve in the infantry, she should have to pass at the exact same PFT standard for a man. As for you getting your panties in a bunch about my line unit comment, get over it? While they are capable of exceptional things, they aren't routinely expected to do them. I'm well aware that SF and their respective branch equivalents aren't unstoppable hollywood style killing machines, but they're still entrusted with missions and a degree of autonomy that your average rifleman would flounder with.
I'm not trying to insult line units when I say they only need to be good enough. I should have used the word competent, I wasn't trying to imply that infantry are disposable. I'm well aware that despite the lack of glamour, infantry are the backbone of the military. Armor can't clear buildings or even advance in an urban environment without infantry support, artillery and airstrikes can't capture objectives intact. It's all grunt work. But despite the necessity of their job, it's still a simple one, that's why it's called grunt work. Don't tell me you can't look at your squad, platoon, or company (are you an NCO?) and pick out at least a couple people that you would only describe as competent.
