You should be cautious about calling someone dumb when you read the phrase "artillery and airstrikes can't capture objectives intact" and somehow come away thinking I said you rely on arty and air support to do the job. I said the EXACT OPPOSITE. You're so desperate to take offense here and talk down to a civilian for daring to have a different opinion than you that you seem completely incapable of comprehending what I actually wrote. You think that unless I pick up a weapon and stand a post I'm incapable of understanding that urban warfare in the modern era is probably the meanest, ugliest, most stressful form of combat that has ever existed?

I have a lot of respect for the horrible job that infantry are expected to do and the conditions they are expected to do it under. Get off your fucking high horse.

I mean, do people actually expect thousands of women to just enlist the day after infantry MOS are OK'd?

I'm not sure this is even an issue in most areas provided women can meet all standards and they don't want a special girls only quarters/etc. in things like attack submarines where it's just not practical to offer separate facilities/billings.

One thing we have to keep in mind, is that if women are allowed in greater numbers but still significantly restricted from combat duty or other things, it does have an effect on other units. For example, in the navy when women couldn't serve on combat ships, it was significantly harder to get shore duty as a male. This made it significantly less appetizing as a career path for the men at the time and most definitely effected retention.

He since took this off his facebook; I suppose his peers pointed out some potential downsides to calling out the Secretary of the Navy in a public social media venue... I'll give a little insight into the GCITF.
I know first hand 5 female Marines that were Sergeants that I had the pleasure of going to Sergeants Course with.
They all made it through the entire thing. They were awesome females to work with and hang out with. They knew their shit, had fun doing it.
They all said the same thing "fuck no to women in the infantry"
They were getting left behind in almost every physical task and graded event.
They did not want to do anything like that ever again, guys spend 4-20 years doing that shit their entire career.
We wasted money on shit we already knew the answer to.
