heh, all that is fine and dandy, if she were buying a new car. She was buying a used car from a dealership conglomerate's surplus lot. So not only did she not try to get 5-10% off the list price of the car at least, but she also had to pay 5% sales tax that she wouldn't have if she found something else privately, and paid a $500 bullshit administration fee (they "throw in" that stupid police parts identification bullshit, which they used to force on people until a consumer watchdog banned that shit, so now it's just a supposedly mandatory admin/paperwork fee with that identification bullshit thrown in). In the end she paid close to $18,000 all in for taxes and fees for a 2010 Matrix that had been in three accidents according to the Carfax report, at least a couple of which appeared to have been really poorly repaired. That 18k includes about $600 for a bunch of front bumper repair work at a friend's body shop for dirt cheap, because the front bumper was nearly falling off in a couple spots. At the time my dad was selling my mom's 2006 Audi A4 wagon with no accidents with less KM's than the Matrix and a second set of rims with winter tires (oh yeah, two of the tires on the Matrix were bald), and he was asking 20k, so within spitting distance of what she ended up paying for the Matrix in the end. From what I experienced with buying my car, I'm not sure paying 2k isn't worth not dealing with all the shit. I test drove a 2014 model and negotiated the price down to something that I thought was too good to be true. Turns out it was and they tried to bait-and-switch me on the 2013 model when I came back to buy the car. They then re-quoted the 2014 model as $80/month higher than our agreement, I walked out after they refused to come down. The manager was actually fuming with rage (I'm sure it was an act, but he did a damn good job at it) when I left and actually yelled at me. I don't know how the average chick will deal with it when the store manager is actually screaming at her, but I bet not well. I then went over to another dealership that had also quoted me a low price, but of course that price turned out to be for some floor/demo version of the car that already had thousands of miles on it. I eventually got a good price by going to a third dealership and showing them the offer from the second without telling them it was a demo version.
I also picked up an actual stalker during the process. I went to a Toyota dealership and basically walked out when he started with the "we'll only have this car until the end of the day" and "red is a premium color that costs more" bullshit. He STILL calls me constantly, despite the fact that I've stopped answering the phone or responding to his voicemails. He has since left Toyota and now works for Ford and calls me constantly telling me how much better deals Ford has and how Toyota was taking advantage of their customers and how I need to come in.
I think you're supposed to be(though I think you can just go to TrueCar.com), but I did it through the Amex one and never once had to show or prove I had am AmEx card, even though I do.Do you have to be a customer of said program in order to purchase? In your example, AMEX.
Be sure not to get on her nerves talking about it!Chicks...
Never understood why people want to own a hitlermobile. Here's something for you car guys to laugh at on a Friday!
Bought a new Beetle. It's a 2013, got an insane deal from a dealer trying to get it moved. $7k off msrp.
I don't know what it is about Beetles. I didn't care either way until I drove my girlfriend's a long time ago. It was decent enough that I bought my own, used turbo s with low miles. Maybe it's the cavernous front cabin, as a tall guy that likes smaller cars this was the most awesome thing about that car. Another great thing about them is that they aren't too popular, so deals are there to be had. Owning my previous one for the last 8 years, I grew to love it, girlycar stigma and all. Couple of issues with shitty VDub electronics, but transmission and engine and suspension solid as a rock. The Monsoon system in that thing fucking rocked too. I would even call it better than the Fender(panasonic) system in the new one. At least as far as mid-bass response goes. Really great stock system in that car. Can't really explain why I find them so charming. Guess we all develop favorites.
Stage 1 Revo tune purchased and incoming when I get a few more miles on her. She will be making around 250hp at that point. Just what I want. A zippy, fun DD with a couple of teeth under the hood if you get her mad
The adaptive bi-xenons are pretty cool.

The old one and the new one. Took the pic of my old one a few months ago, last good pic I got of herReally wish I could've just kept her and made her into a fun track or autocross experiment, but not to be.
But the question is, what parts do they have for sale that are anodized?I bought a new car today as well. My E92 gave me 110k completely trouble-free miles, but I have a long commute and needed something more MTB-friendly (that I could put a hitch on for a bike rack, plus space for my filthy ass clothes and helmets and shit). Got a solid trade on the car and just paid cash for the rest. 25k out the door loaded with nav/leather/moonroof, dealer was refreshingly bullshit-free and the whole deal took about an hour to put together.
I'll definitely miss the shit out of the BMW (best car I ever owned, by a long shot) but overall I'm pretty happy with the XV. 33 MPG will be great in the summer when gas is 4 bucks a gallon, and it's a lot of car for short money. Plus it'll be nice not to have to take my golf clubs out of the trunk to go food shopping and whatnot, heh.
