I'll find out more later today, pretty bogus.

On a positive note I came home and joined an Operator Thogar guild run. Since I have been pugging so much it was all these dudes I played with before and it only took us a couple of attempts. I actually think Thogar is my favorite fight so far after the body builders. It's fairly intense, the trains are unforgiving, but the boss doesn't rape your ass with damage. They fell in love with me, but they might have thought my female goblin = female IRL.

I swear there is a weird pug aversion to melee. Got my monk to 643 and like no normals would take me last night. I think I do better dps at that ilvl with him than I did on my Mage.
That just seems like a really low ilvl to try and get into normal pugs tbh

Low for normal HM? You jest sir! I'm talking apping to pugs that list looking for 630. Ffs I pulled 19k on normal Kargath the one time I got a pug. That is plenty fine for normal.

Bring your monk to your friday catch up raid! If no one is going to invite you then you must manifest your own destiny or some shit.

That's why I've been doing the puggle struggle this week, we couldn't kill any bosses so I went out and killed them myself.

Yeah definitely taking my monk Friday night. Will switch to mage if our dps needs a boost. Saw you as tentative, gonna come pro tank it?

Only if I can - that's why I put tentative. I never know

I ran a highmaul pug yesterday. I very likely wouldn't take a 643 monk. It's not that a RL is averse to melee, its that you're competing with the many many many other dps who have higher ilvl than you. Without looking up your logs, I'd have to assume that ilvl = damage. Try it yourself; start a highmaul raid and see who applies.

I know that. I am just different on my Mage I guess. When I was in the 650s and pugging normals, I wouldn't even app to a raid listing 630. I just assumed that there would be a large number of low ilvl people in the raid. So, when I app for a 630 listing at 643, I suppose I just wrongly assume that higher people wouldn't even bother, thinking they'd have to work too hard.

Well -- remember, every week brings iLvl inflation AND people catching up on their legendary ring quest. I ran H Highmaul at 672 ilvl yesterday with low ilvl friends just to help out, and we recruited a handful of 665+ people who also didn't really care about gear and were just along for abrogator stones (and wanted an easy run with an AOTC RL).

Depending on your view of the ethics, you could always lie and say you're 4/7M raider on an alt or some shit. I know people fake that shit all the time but I still prefer seeing "AOTC; 28k dps, know all fights, just need stones" in a DPS applicant as opposed to nothing.

I received an in game mail from my guild leader bitching that I owe the guild bank 318 gold for using repairs outside of raid time.

Guild repairs were turned off all tues/wed raid days and I put 20k in the bank two weeks ago.

318 gold.

You are drawn to this type of guild somehow.

Yeah, I know. I'm just being a whiny bitch from being declined so many times.
Seriously man, stand up your own -- highmaul is pretty fucking easy at this point in time and if you run your own raid you can put anything you want on reserve (or stack the classes so you get free rolls). There are TONS of people out there who need a RL!

I'd be lying if I said I was confident enough to do it. Helping with the Rerolled folks, whom I know at least, is one thing. With strangers.... Not so sure.

RLing pugs isn't bad, you just have to be ready to be a dick at a moment's notice. If I had stayed last night I was going to remove a few people. It's actually easier in a pug because you can just blindly remove people, in the guild it's actually personal. I still struggle with the thought that I may need to remove someone on Saturday.

The threshold for needed ilvl has jumped a ton.

For highmaul normal you need at least 650 now to get groups, that's just how it is.

For heroic you're looking at 660.

Foundry normal is 670ish.

Heroic Foundry? most groups want 680. I was told flat out my paladin was too low at 676 a few times this weekend.

My friends say the same thing, but honestly, its all strangers man... who cares. The primary responsibility you're accepting is understanding how to build a raid force and who you need to recruit (and who you need to kick). Grab a Warlock asap, have an ideal in mind of the raid comp you want, and just vet applicants until you're there. Bonus points for talking to the raid and telling everyone to sit tight while you build the A-team.

Actual fight mechanics? Its not a learning raid for a guild, its a pug... if your raid is having problems you boot the people that are failures or just relaunch in 30 minutes once you're done talking shit about the glue-eaters to your btag friends.

EDIT: What noodle said. RLing for a guild isHARDER; the diplomatic constraints are real. You can't bench the resto druid officer that everyone loves because he keeps getting womped by easy mechanics. In a PUG its just a ("Sorry man; raids having issues and 8k dps for heroic butcher isn't going to cut it.")

A guild leader has a limited toolkit and has to work with some fucked up tools; a pug RL just throws them away and gets new ones until he has a functional set.

The best part is that loot is:

HM Normal: 655 (Need 650 for a group). OK

HM Heroic: 670 (Need 660 for a group). OK

BRF Normal: 665 (Need 670). HUH

BRF Heroic: 680 (Need 680). Puzzling
