I don't see how Missouri is an autoloss at all. It was close last year and I don't think people understand that 80% of our best players were underclassmen. Bama and Oklahoma will be rough. The rest will all be competitive.
It wasn't really that close. We had a 2-score lead for the entire fourth quarter. It was only close in the first half, and this was AT Tennessee. Count on another 10+ pt loss @ Missouri this year. Our team will be as good, if not better than last year. QB should have a large step forward now that he's had 1 full year of starting under his belt, our offense should be quite a bit better than last year, and the D will still be strong.

We have more players returning from last years SEC East champ team, than we had returning after our first year of winning the SEC East. 4 of our 5 O-lineman are back(including the top center in the SEC) our QB is back, starting RB is back. Our top 2 tacklers are back at LB, our 2 corners are back, 2 of our 4 D-lineman are back, and while the 2 we lost both were high NFL draft picks we have the #1 DT in the 2015 recruiting class(#2 overall player Terry Beckner Jr) coming in to replace them. We'll have about 15-16 of the 22 starters from last years team back. We're still getting better too...

I'd agree that the game might be really close if it were at Tennessee, but it's not. 10 point win at least for Missouri.

Texas is going to be bad again. Only question is if they will break .500 this year.
Definitely. Our defense will take a step back because it will be super young. Unless one of our QBs magically makes the jump, Texas will actually be worse than last year. Its okay though, 2017 is our year!

We shall see. We go from 1 total returning starter up front on either line to 8. Our left tackle was a walk on with a torn ACL he played on most of the season. We go from 10 total returning starters to 17. We go from a terrible senior or first time starter at QB to a much more talented junior with half a season under his belt. Dobbs is better than Mauk, period. I'm sure you enjoyed the first two years of being in the SEC but that version of Tennessee is over with. We have an actual roster of the caliber we should and a real life actual football coach who isn't terrible.

There isn't a clear favorite in the East this year as far as I can see. It's wide open.

no

Games against common opponents and each other last year (5 games)

Mauk 7TD 0 Int 939 yds 172 yards rushing 4.52 YPC

Dobbs 9TD 6 int 1077 393 yds rushing 4.3 YPC

So Dobbs is more prone to turnovers, and is a less efficient runner(even though he runs a LOT more)

And they were both Sophomores last year, both played almost the exact same amount the year before in 2013 as well as Freshman(Dobbs threw 121 passes, Mauk 133)

That being said, Mauk was not a great QB last year, I don't know that I'd really even consider him overly good last year(thank god we had a dominant running game), but I don't get the love for Josh Dobbs. He wasn't very good last year(although I guess he was better than whoever he replaced, but just because you look great when compared to a turd, doesn't mean you're great)

Mauk completed 48% of his passes in league games and averaged a yard less per carry for the season. Dobbs completed 63% AND averaged more yards per attempt AND did it against all SEC opponents(including Bama, Missou, and SC) and Iowa. You had a good offensive line overall, we had to start 5 new players. You had a left tackle drafted in the second round, we had a fucking walk on with a torn ACL starting at left tackle all season. Mauk has played in 27 games, Dobbs has played in 11. Plus Mauk redshirted, while Dobbs had to drop his last year because Worley broke his shoulder and our third stringer was the mongoloid third Clausen brother Derpo. It was burn the redshirt or play Derpo Clausen. There's a reason we signed three four star QBs this year and one of them will be our primary backup this year. Anyway, Mauk sucks. And he's a midget. Plus, Dobbs is an astronaut. Get the fuck outta here.

You cannot legitimately believe what you are saying broseph. Dobbs came in game 8, took a shit offensive team with a below average defense and turned them into a competitive group. Mauk managed a good offensive team that had a solid defense and didn't fuck it up too, too badly. Dobbs was the less experienced yet more important focal point on his team, who put up better numbers, and is clearly far more talented. The only thing Mauk has is that he doesn't throw as many picks, which stands to reason because he knows he can punt the ball and his coach probably told him "Listen midget, you're just out there not to fuck things up, don't get too big for your britches". Meanwhile if Dobbs does what Mauk did against South Carolina we get blown out last year, while you win a squeaker due to your defense. Ask any Alabama fan which one made their buttholes pucker more last year and you'll know the answer. Get a grip son.

Edit: Early Vegas lines have us underdogs in two games(@Missou and @Bama). 3 point favorites over Oklahoma.

Looks like our new video board is coming along nicely. Unfortunately it'll probably be 80% ads and 20% actual game footage / relevant info.

The worst part of CFB is that it's been completely sold out on the altar of advertising dollars. It's only a matter of time before Ohio Stadium becomes Papa John's or Fedex Ohio Stadium or whatever shit.

I usually don't bitch about such stuff...but. When they built the new baseball stadium at LSU ( I know baseball but we outdraw all but 2 basketball teams in the NCAA in attendance for baseball games). Anyway a group of of fans who sat in in the outfied (yes they have stands all the way around full 99% of the time) and raised money to buy the advertising spot on the wall in front of their section and the university turned them down saying it would cheapen the look of not having an ad in those couple of sections. Even tho the income would be the same.

Also I'm curious how much your school actually owns the stadium. Probably less than you think.

Who really owns Tiger Stadium? - Baton Rouge Business Report

TAF = Tiger Athletic Foundation. The backers who pay for the stadium expansions the bulk of the head coach salary and assistants etc...

East Side Upper Deck
(completed in 2000)

$1,000: TAF's annual rent to LSU to lease the land on which the east upper deck sits.

$2 million: LSU's annual rent to TAF to use the facility.

$65 million: The maximum amount of debt that TAF was allowed to incur when building the project, according to the cooperative endeavor agreement between TAF and LSU. The actual cost came out to be around $55 million.

West Side Upper Deck
(renovated in 2004-2005)

$25,000: TAF's annual rent to LSU to lease the land on which the west upper deck sits.

$2.5 million: LSU's annual rent to TAF to use the facility.

$67 million: The maximum amount of debt TAF budgeted to finance the project. The actual cost came in around $60 million.

South End Zone Expansion
(completed in 2014)

$25,000: TAF's annual rent to LSU to lease the land on which the south end zone facility sits.

$4 million: LSU's annual rent to TAF to use the facility.

$100 million: the maximum debt TAF budgeted to finance the project. The actual cost came in around $89.3 million.

I honestly don't really mind the current era of big money in college sports. Growing up in the 80s, I couldn't watch the Missouri Tigers on television. We are the only D1 football team in a state with 2 large TV markets(KC & ST Louis) and they just were not on TV at all, anywhere. I bet I saw less than 10 Mizzou games on TV as a kid(you might get 1 a year, when we played Nebraska or Oklahoma). Sure, we were terrible back then, but EVERYBODY is on tv nowadays. If you're in a major conference you can see every one of your games on TV one way or another, even if you're a dumpster fire of a program, you're on TV somewhere... That's damn nice. Someone who is a fan of someone like Notre Dame or USC or Alabama wouldn't realize how much of a struggle it was to even see your team on TV once a year up until about the mid 1990s. Thank god for ESPN2/ESPN3/ESPNU/Fox Sports/SEC network/B10 network, etc. Plenty of games for everyone

Missouri didn't have it's own network in the 80's for at least local TV coverage? I'm pretty sure it was covered thru most of the state, but we didn't compete with an NFL or MLB team. This during an era where LSU didn't win shit and a coach came out after a game once we lost by 40+ points and said "We ran the ball pretty good". I remember it well because we had like 40 yards rushing that game.

LSU had TigerVision that was carried on cable and showed all the home/road games that were not on a national network for a fee. I think it was $10 or something. I still remember the "Turn down your TV and turn up the radio to get the voice of the Tigers call".

Missouri wasn't on TV hardly at all really until the B12 formed in 1996 and a new TV deal was struck, so at least the conference games were on TV(good luck seeing non-con games). The Big 8 had their network deal and whichever network it was would show 2 Big 8 games a week, generally Nebraska's game, and Oklahomas game. If they happened to be playing each other then 1 other lucky team might get their game shown.

Non-con games were still an issue up to about 4-5 years ago, there was always 1 a year that was flat-out not on TV, you couldn't get it PPV or anything. I think 100% of our games have been available on TV since about 2010 or so.

Looks good. I was stationed near Auburn for 2.5 years in the late 90s (Maxwell) and Auburn was the place that got me really interested in attending college and then grad school (it's where I met my wife as well - although we didn't know it at the time - funny looking back). I don't know if you actually live in Alabama but if you do, is there still a "Bama Fever, Tiger Pride" store in the malls?

Not currently, been in Arkansas for about 9 years. But there has been about 1,000 variations of the Bama / Auburn store in the Galleria in Birmingham.

"Newcomer"? Sure bud, considering you are on the forum that represents the guild I was a core member within
This forum does not rep FoH dipshit. This forum is what it is named, and the guilds we are in in game, are named after the forum, not after some shit you did in 1999.

Also, 2014, you are like, 3rd gen at best.

And I did not read anything you posted, this is all FYI, not a discussion.

I dont remember watching any college football on TV until . . . 2002 maybe? And thats only because my pals were fans and if we didnt travel, they wanted to see it and it was broadcast locally.

Growing up, we just went to the games.

Edit: Fuck that, I remember seeing Clint use the ball to keep himself up in the 90s . . . back when I was an UoA fan. I can still see the damn replays when I close my eyes.
