My devices and printers page doesn't load when I open it. It hangs and the green bar just goes across forever. Windows 7 btw.

Apparently after googling lots of other people have a similar issue but they all seem to be able to resolve theirs by making sure the bluetooth service and printer spooler service is started, neither help my situation.

Odd one but I'm at a loss. I have no idea how long it's been doing it since I don't make a lot of changes to this computer often, no printer installed etc...

So my older desktop (Win 7) is starting to become unresponsive about 30-60 seconds after the OS loads. Doesn't matter what I'm doing, using Chrome, Battle.net app, looking in control panel. Basically the window becomes unresponsive and the cursor turns into the loading circle and I can't do anything at all. Can't close/open anything, even CTRL+ALT+DEL does nothing. I am thinking that the HDD is going bad, but I did a chkdisk and nothing seemed out of place. Can't run anything else in the OS, even happens in safe mode.

Any ideas?

Check temps, especially the video card if you're running with Aero on. Sounds like a driver lockup to me if you've eliminated the hard disk. That said...

If you can, try to get the event viewer open and see if there are any events from the Disk service (they'd be in System). chkdsk doesn't always tell you the whole story. If you can, put the drive in another machine as a slave and see if it behaves there with the OS loaded.

Well since it is happening in safe mode, it's far likely it is hardware related.

You need to check out your memory, not just your HD. You can either run something like Memtest or the old way of removing all but 1 stick at a time until you find the culprit.

I'll try to run memtest. The RAM is brand new (December),so I'd be surprised if it is failing already but I guess stranger things have happened. I'll try the event viewer, but so far I haven't been able to keep it open long enough to see anything.

When they go, they go. It can be dead on arrival, dead 2 months after you installed, 2 years after, etc.

what the fuck does this mean??? I just came back from grabbing food and this website was loaded and this picture was loaded up and my notepad had this in it

What happened to your files ?
All of your files were protected by a strong encryption with RSA-2048 using CryptoWall 3.0.
More information about the encryption keys using RSA-2048 can be found here:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSA_(cryptosystem)

What does this mean ?
This means that the structure and data within your files have been irrevocably changed, you will not be able to work with them, read them or see them,
it is the same thing as losing them forever, but with our help, you can restore them.

How did this happen ?
Especially for you, on our server was generated the secret key pair RSA-2048 - public and private.
All your files were encrypted with the public key, which has been transferred to your computer via the Internet.
Decrypting of your files is only possible with the help of the private key and decrypt program, which is on our secret server.

What do I do ?
Alas, if you do not take the necessary measures for the specified time then the conditions for obtaining the private key will be changed.
If you really value your data, then we suggest you do not waste valuable time searching for other solutions because they do not exist.

You have a virus. Restore your system to a previous state and install some malware/virus protection. Also put NoScript and Adblock into your Firefox/Chrome browser and don't let shit install things that isn't clearly from a trusted vendor.

Your other option is just wipe everything from your drives and start over with a fresh install. This includes formatting any potentially infected drives.

Honest question, but are you new to the internet/computers in general? Grab a USB device and download an .iso of your version of windows and the USB windows installation utility from MIcrosoft. Put the .iso on the usb using the utility, format any secondary drives and then make sure the usb device is properly connected to the PC. During boot, enter your BIOS and change the boot order to the removable drive, then install windows.

Or download the .iso and use a bootable disc burning utility, make a burned copy, format any other infected drive and then restart your computer, go into bios and change the boot order to your dvd drive and reinstall windows from there.

Since you most likely do not have your install key, I would recommend you hit up google and look for a well recommended utility that will determine your key from the installation. WRite it down exactly, then re-install.

not new to computers or the internet, but i usually have a friend build my PC then set up the neccesary programs like drivers and such, then i just go from there i dont visit porn or anything stupid, i literally can count the websites i visit its here, wowhead and like iptorrents, so im still really curious how this even got on my pc, my GF uses it sometimes for school but really i go on a limited number of sites.

im not computer smart though i dont know the ins and outs to make my life easier im computer ignorant for sure.

i actually tried that, i deleted most of the files i dont get the website coming up anymore but yeah nothing still loads.

when you say download an iso, you mean from IPT or something right? is it only effecting my second drive since im still able to load up my pc and do things off the first one? or is it effecting both hard drives.

Also it says to restore my files i have to use a previous date, but like i said i dont have anything backed up so maybe thats why?

i think i may only have to format my second drive, as I can run steam and other games from my main HD with windows on it, isn't that as simple as right clicking it and going to properties and clicking format?

so i followed everything on the link you posted spent 2 hours scanning with spyhunter just to find out i need to buy it for it to actually fix anything, how can i figure out if this is effecting both my hard drives or just one? because if its just the second one i can completely format it theres nothing important on it.

sorry i sound like a whiney bitch i really dont know much about this shit, and my buddy who put this pc together just moved off to college so im kinda stuck here.

on another note my mic suddenly works now, the settings are saving must have been something with this virus, i manually removed some files because spyhunter needs the license

Was going to type something long-winded, but tl;dr: The malware author probably wants $500 for your files. SpyHunter is $40. Sounds like a better deal to me.

Welcome to the new-age of viruses.. cryptowalls!

I'm not necessarily blaming you, as we don't know where you got it from, but you probably downloaded some sketchy shit to get that.
