People and investors wrote off Walmart as a brick and mortar body to be placed in the grave by Amazon. They were wrong. While Amazon has massive scale, so to does Walmart. And Walmart, is I believe the largest overall purchaser in the world. They began the online sales experiment when they bought Jet a while back and while that itself wasn't a homerun it gave them the infrastructure and experience to crank up the online game. Amazon is a behemoth, but so is Walmart.
The qquestion is who has the better logistics. And I'm confident in assuming Wal-Mart does.

Amazon has grown well. But Wal-Mart has twenty years. Amazon might be next. Next isn't yet.

They might not be, also. There are problems with catalogue shopping. And that's what Amazon offers. It's a good complement to brick and mortar. Remains to be seen if it's a good substitute. Might could.

couple that with amazon being 95% scam garbage items (not that target/walmart isn't), you get people looking for alternatives

Man that garbage thing is no fucking joke. Filters for my fridge are $60 at Best buy. Ordered a couple of the knock off filters on Amazon, and they of course were garbage. Then ordered the "legit" one and that one didn't work for shit either, then went back to Best Buy to get one that works perfectly, and is visually identical to the "legit" one I bought off Amazon.

Imagine if you put all the effort into making quality that you put into making identical garbage knockoffs.

I kind of hate ordering off Amazon now. A lot of the reviews are fake so I go straight to the bad ones to look for common problems or if the users just seem stupid. I see a lot of the bad reviews stating that they receive a different brand of the product or it's not the same as pictured. Letting people sell stuff through your site and direct ship to customers is a good way to get a bad rep.

Amazon is learning/about to learn what every great monopoly learned. Once you gain monopoly power/market influence you start ignoring what got you there because... fuck I'm a monopoly. Amazon products and their service is heading downward and every competitor despises them.

Ps.. only discussing their marketplace arm. Their prime video/music/book thing and their AWS are still solid endeavors.

Oh, and... they fired somebody over Coronachan protest organizing or something. For thread relevance.

I don't know what the fuck you guys are buying from amazon, but it's rare that I get garbage or a knock off that I didn't know was a knock off.

Maybe it's because I've got prime and they give prime members the good stuff? That's gotta be it because the only other possibility is that I'm that much smarter than you. You know they have browser add ons to help handle fake reviews.

The biggest problem with Amazon are the 3rd party sellers, and there being almost no way to clearly seperate them from amazon direct sales. For example, I would never, ever, ever buy batteries on Amazon. Every time I did in the past, it was shanzhai, one of which leaked all over my kids toy which is an obvious safety hazard. I got no problems buying batteries from walmart.

You can't even trust regular Amazon listings. I have gotten counterfeit bullshit being sold directly by them.

Wife's friend wrote self help books on Kindle store and did nothing but use paid for reviews by Indians until he was caught by Amazon and his account frozen.

This is after 4 years and 1.5 million in sales later.

I ordered a kreg jig from Amazon (via a 3rd party) a while back and this is what FedEx brought me.

The case was completely crushed but the tool was intact and I probably would have just kept it but one of the drill bits was missing so I sent it back with a UPS label provided by Amazon. A week or so later, the exact same package showed up on my porch again. I swear they didn't even look at it, just printed out a FedEx label, stuck it over my return label, and shipped it back.

What is the situation with testing right now? I was under the impression that tests were pretty plentiful and I've heard in cities people can just make an appointment at a lab and get a test on demand if they're willing to pay for it but we have some relatives coming to visit and wanted them to get tested and apparently the situation in Montana is that you can't get tested unless they really think you might have it. Is that the case in other areas?

I think it depends a lot on where you are. In Baton Rouge which is adjacent to the hotspot in New Orleans that a lot of people commute back and forth to they advertise testing in lots of places. At least one location still open doing drive in testing. Same for the antibody testing. I went to the doctor just over a week ago and they asked when I made the appointment if I needed a virus test and if I needed to have one done when I went. I did have the antibody test since I was there for blood work anyway.

New York you can call up and get tested whenever, regardless of symptoms. CT you still cannot unless you have symptoms or you live in one of the CT hotspots.

Friend at Abbott states the hotspots are priority #1 for receiving tests and they still don't have capacity to broaden that spectrum so that is likely the reason.

So asymptomatic testing should be readily available. The problem is that the testing sites/doctors offices don't always have a hookup with a lab with enough supplies so they reserve it for testing patients with symptoms. And some state department/labs are the same way. What my group had to do is partner with a lab in NJ to get more test kits. Some urgent care center will offer rapid testing, but accuracy of that testing is questionable.

A national vendor that you can look at is quest diagnostics. Looking at their website, it does look like they offer asymptomatic antibody testing but not necessarily the testing for active disease unless you have a doctor's order/symptomatic. Depending on your families situation, they may just have to find a national lab network like quest and have your doctor send the order there instead of whatever lab they normally use. Are your parents in Montana and visiting you elsewhere or Montana to Montana travel?

Around here most Care Now type of private clinics offer testing without an appointment. There's one by my house that does it in 10 mins for $50 and tests for antibodies. I'm sure anyone that took the time to make a few phone calls could get it done for free. The only reason we don't see 100% tested numbers in my area is because no one is sick or thinks they need to get it done. If I go visit my dad this summer I'll go get an antibodies test just to be sure.

It makes me laugh when I read this. Why are religious orgs so crazy about worshipping during a pandemic??

On May 18, houses of worship may open with outdoor services being encouraged. Essential businesses, manufacturing and construction can also reopen. Hospitals and community health centers will be allowed to provide high-priority preventative care, pediatric care and treatment for high-risk conditions.

Literally the fIrst item listed is the church
