I think the most annoying thing about the show is how the box works. Does the box superposition or do the people inside superposition? If it's just the people then would it only allow travel to other worlds with a box? If it's the box that superpositions then if it's observed then it can't be in superposition. I don't know maybe I'm looking at it wrong.

I liked the first episodes but it feels like a bit too slow for me. Maybe if I could have binged all episodes in one go it would be better.

The science behind the outer physicality of the actual box seems strange. It seems like it exists in all universes but what happens if some fucks with it? You can cover it in concrete. But in the water world it 'appeared at the top of the water and then immediately sunk. Does that mean it wasn't really there until they popped in? A tree falls in the woods but makes no sound if nobody is there to hear it kind of deal?

Certainly not an expert on quantum mechanics but I think the idea is that there are many parallel universes where things went differently and you can somehow choose to go to the one with your preferred outcome - all of them exist simultaneously but until someone resolves that universe, it both did and didn't exist. The box somehow allows the user to navigate all possible positions and choose the one that they wanted.

So it's more a state of mind and less a physical device? You are saying I should chill the fuck out and stop worrying about the rules of where the box sits in dimensional space? I may be equating it to a Tardis.

The box is a story McGuffin that doesn't have anything to do with any theoretical quantum mechanics, it's just a prop to have the story happen.

If you want a quick hand-wave justification, any possible universes where someone trashed the box or moved it somewhere else can't be accessed by the box, so they never see them. They are working with the set of universes where no-one has moved or destroyed the huge ominous black box that appeared out of nowhere. ( Try to forget the one where it was on a freeway ;p )

This is the way I was thinking of it, and I think the latest episode made that exact explanation when invader Jason was talking to original Ryan about its use.

That said, what the fuck at that ending? Is that supposed to suggest there is another Jason from another slightly different universe that was abducted by a different invader Jason that accidentally made his way to our Jason's universe?

Or is the implication that there are an infinite number of Jasons that were our Jason but have made slightly different decisions along the way since the abduction and they're all trying to get back to our original universe? Because goddamn, that's a fucked up concept if so. If it is that though, shouldn't there be an infinite number of invader Jasons that have made other decisions while taking Leighton around (or going on his solo travels) all colliding in our original universe as well?

There is still the original billionaire evil black guy friend/boss/college buddy limping his way through the box as well, right? Seems like already plenty of loose ends to tie up I hope they don't really add a bunch more cloned versions of themselves to the mix at the 11th hour.

This episode was a doozy, kinda confused why all the dudes came to the same world still...

All of these Jasons are theoretically the correct Jason 1’s, with the difference being they chose different doors inside the box so each one underwent a slightly different journey with different experiences. They’re all coming to the same world because they all finally figured out how to work the box and for them, this is the prime world they originated from for every single one of them.

This episode was pretty wild and while it took 8 Episodes I felt like it finally paid off and the show managed to stand on its own two feet. The worst thing going for this are the weekly episode drops which slowed the pace considerably and a couple entire episodes could have been cut completely or compressed and we wouldn’t have missed a thing. If this episode was a good representation of the book I can see why it has such a cult following.

I have no fucking idea how they are going to resolve this. Total mind fuck on everyone involved.

And it's a limited series so next episode is likely the last one of the show where everything gets resolved.

So yeah, since they're going with that explanation, shouldn't there be a bunch of imposter Jasons coming back to the original Jason's world every time he used the box? Guess that's just a handwave. Regardless, wild episode.

Are there more Jason's than worlds? Like infinite + 1 Jason's
Yes - originally you'd have at most 1 Jason per world (ignoring all the worlds that don't have Jasons), one Jason and one matching world for each branching decision he made in his life. Once he started making decisions in the box, however, that creates branches that don't have a unique world tied to them. Or at least that's how I'm understanding it.

Nah, because the ones split off from Jason2 are all going looking for a world where he didn't ditch his girlfriend. The journey back to his original world with Jason1 was after he had worked out how to use the box, so he presumably didn't spend weeks wandering at random that time.

I'm talking about post abduction, after he settled on Jason1's world. He continued to use the box, whether it was when he was training Leighton or collecting more ampoules or whatever. He put himself in superposition and presumably made "decisions" about which world he was going to every time he was in the box. You'd think that result in multiple Jason2s that had laid claim to Jason1's Daniela.

It gets crazy when you think about it. Every time someone uses the box it should create infinite person since there is infinite choice. So would it be infinite to the nth power Jason 1, Jason 2, and chick that traveled with him?
