The author did a AMA just before episode 9 aired claiming he’s “writing a book”, but refused to say if it’s another book in the Dark Matter universe or something else. He did say something to the effect that he enjoyed the point of views of the other people in the show and combined with the final 60 seconds of the season 1 ending, I suspect he’s not done.

Hope he is done. Felt like it was a good ending and with the exception of the final 60 seconds I hear the ending is the same as in the books.

If they do decide to do a season 2 I hope it’s about the rich black guy with it being more sliders/stargate inspired by going to new worlds to start shit with the locals in a search for new badass technology, or something. Don’t really want to see a season 2 of Ryan or who the fuck ever trying to find his way home.

Pretty cool ending. If he does decide to expand on it I would like to see Charlie pick up his work and perfect it. Almost like he becomes the traveler of worlds without creating copies of himself.

I Enjoyed this series (i assume no S2) but thought they missed a bit on the ending.

All those Jason's just sitting and saying nothing after all they went through, did they vote a spokesperson ?

Should have had them speak in unison as one "hive mind" as they would all be thinking the same thing.

Also, Daniella and Charle cant even give one the Versions of Jason a "thanks dad, i love you and appreciate what you did to get back to us"
SO DAMN COLD.

If they do S2, i don't want the family, i want Multiple Jason's causing havoc in the world i presume they are stranded in.

100% agree with this.

I was worried 1 episode wasn't enough to resolve this mess and they still filled half ot it with boring family scenes to spend less than 1 minute in the end kind of wrapping up everything. Halfway through, I started thinking about the Alex Jones meme and they ended up doing it.

Because the only way to cope with that situation is to view the other Jasons as non-human/not real.

Yeah, I don't blame her. Best move is to just get out of that world and try not to lose sleep over the fact that there's over 100 other Jasons that are just as much your husband as the one you're with, other than the fact this one convinced you first. Not that I have a better reason to pick one over the others. The whole situation is fucked and tragic.

I enjoyed this.

Exactly what I was thinking. Or I figured half of them were going to try to stop them and the other half fight back.

I was just wondering how fucked up in the brain I would become after killing myself a bunch of times.

Solid show. Great scifi and likeable, believable characters. One episode to go.

I am having an issue with the multiple Jasons thing though. Maybe they explain more in the finale, but WTF? The implied explanation at this point is that traveling in the box and making at least one choice inevitably leads to duplicates. So we've just spent all season travelling in the box but now for the very first time we encounter duplicates, and its effectively an infinite number of them, all at once? Needs more explanation. What was different about Jason's travels than the 4 or 5 other people who have been travelling around in the box for much longer but somehow not creating duplicates?

I wouldn’t spend much time thinking about it honestly. It was a decent show that I enjoyed, fin.

Agreed we can't think about it too much doubt it holds up. Now the three of them probably just spawned infinite more copies running around. Was a good show without that wrinkle they should have just stuck with the basic premise and not shoehorned in the unnecessary twist.

Just finished this. Pretty decent. Some "ugh" moments early on like the snow world decisions and the fact that they're apparently only going 1:1 with ampules at the end instead of just blasting through doors.

It took me some googling to figure out in the finale episode:

Why Ryan was in Amanda's world. It's because of the way Jason2 said "a world my friend would like to see" he's talking about Amanda, his friend, not Ryan who wasn't really his friend in his world. So he basically imagined the same world for Ryan that Amanda then imagined for herself. Pretty cool I think even though those two characters versions have 0 interaction with each other beforehand. Maybe it's a potential S2 teaser thing but it seems like this was a one-and-done.

Overall good, solid 7.5/10 stuff. Good scifi that doesn't get too plot holey or have characters make really fucking dumb decisions too much. Apple continues their streak of "that wasn't awful!" shows.

After getting success adapting an established popular novel, the writers are now confident they can make enough shit up as they go to spin out another season.

What could go wrong ?

A lot can go wrong but at least the book author is the showrunner and I guess he'll write most of the episodes.

I tried to watch this, but couldn’t and stopped after the 4th episode. The show is slow, and I usually don’t mind a slow burn but it feels that it’s not revealing things at a decent pace to keep me engaged. The other thing is I find the Jason 1 story kinda interesting, Jason 2 taking over his life is boring as fuck. Lastly for some reason, I don’t like the main actor he’s way too bland I think.

Subject matter is totally up my alley but this show just didn’t do it for me.

I really enjoyed this show but I don't think I dug in until the sixth or so episode.

I'm excited for another season if only because the author is making it. I hope it's a totally new cast of characters or at the very least doesn't have Jason in it except as maybe a side character.

I wouldn't mind a Black Mirror episode that starts on Earth 1 as S1 of Dark Matter ends. Basically examining the result of an Earth getting fed essentially infinite Jasons who become increasingly crazed as the length of their journey back to Earth 1 gets longer and longer.
