finally got around to watching this after finishing Snowpiercer which also stars the excellent Jennifer Connelly
Dark Matter is ok, its pretty lite on the sci fi and heavy on the romance drama so the show really limps along at a boring pace for the first 7 episodes. You could honestly just skip most of it and miss little. Episode 8 is great though and really goes hard on the sci fi elements. Then the show ends after 1 more episode lol. Season 1 covers all of the book so it'll be interesting to see what the hell they do for season 2, it'll be all new stuff not from any book.
I was really annoyed at how literally the box was a magic mcguffin that had almost no complexity to it, it just "shields everything" combined with a serum that sleeps your brain makes everything work. Super lame imo. The other huge annoying thing is they never fucking talk about Dark Matter itself, the thing that makes up 27% of the universe and we know literally nothing about. I thought it would be a huge part of how the superposition box works but nope, nothing to do at all with fucking anything. lame.
Didn't hate the show, but not really a top tier sci fi show, just another mid level Apple TV+ sci fi show but I can't complain too much, better than the years when we don't get shit.
Jennifer Connelly and the dude from Its Always Sunny make the show, the main actor is fucking drab and boring as hell. He's the white Anthony Mackie. I never thought a white guy could be a DEI hire but this dude is.
