There's a stone doorway built into the cliffside in Majula just to the left of the house with the cat (if youre facing the house). Go down the ramp and through the doorway on the right to descend to the Heide's Tower of Flame area with the Dragonrider and Old Dragonslayer.

She doesn't give you a pyro flame; you have to find them elsewhere. I already had a normal pyro flame from.. I think after I beat the Wharf boss? Found an upgraded Dark Pyro Flame in the Gutter somewhere and used a fire seed to +1 it, even though I wont use it.

Was going to take a screenshot of 10 million deaths, but it jumped almost 30k at once suddenly. Not sure what happened there. I was clicking the tablet continiously to see. It went up by 1-2 deaths per click, then suddenly it was 10 million 20k something.

Ahh, that's interesting...I did go down there and looked around but it seemed like I couldn't progress anywhere. I figured it had to do with the "contraption" in the first room down the stairs and that I couldn't go further without getting whatever was needed to operate it. I'll have to go back down there and have a closer look around to see what I missed. Thanks!

Might steer clear of this thread, got a feeling spoilers are going to be pretty rampant soon and I'm really enjoying having no fucking clue whats happening.

This game is really fucking up my sleep schedule. I was up until 2:45 playing; knocked out Lost Sinner, The Rotten, Skeleton Lords, Scorpion chick and found harvest valley. I feel like I should be headed toward that Belfast area now that I finally found some more pharros lockstones, but I really wanna get to Iron Keep so I can get that god damn ember and start using these boss souls. I can't believe how long this game is taking me, almost up to 40 hours at this point.

I'm trying to keep my laptop open with the DS wiki for editing purposes as I play. Have already edited a number of boss pages with tips along with some item details.

Do you really need an ember for boss weapons? There's an npc you can un-petrify who'll trade boss souls for boss equip; can you craft different stuff or is it just another way to get these items?

I haven't gone back there to unpetrify that NPC yet because I didn't have any branches. I think I have two now that I found going through Shaded / Harvest areas so I'll do that.

I assumed the guy at the bonfire in Bastille asking for the ember is the one that took boss souls. Do different NPC's give different rewards? That'd be cool.

So, was just running around and found the miracle lady again and opened up a new area. Was a message on the floor leading out there that said something like "now the real game begins"....

Some trash mobs, pshhh easy... Then....

I need more stamina. One hit and I go from full stamina to staggered. Given up on collecting souls there. I die constantly.

I finally killed the Sentinels in Bastille. It was a lot easier solo than with "helpers." I went in and made a few attempts and got the pattern down pretty good but was running low on Hollow health (never got the ring that stabilizes health at 75%) so I helped out on The Pursuer to become Human and reset my health. Went back and figured "I know the fight now so let's just summon some people in and trash these guys." Well the people I summoned weren't the best... We killed the first on the ledge pretty easily, dropped down and they both, promptly, got killed. So I spent the next 5 minutes or so soloing the remaining two. I killed the second and got greedy on the third and he hammer slammed me. Went back as Hollow and killed them solo with ease.

The worst part about my story is that summoning the helpers hurt me a lot more than anything. If I hadn't summoned them, I would have won. It seems that when you summon people in, your damage output goes WAY down (I was hitting for half of what I normally do). So having to solo two Sentinels with the Multiplayer penalty was too much for me. Once I saw that, I figured it was easier to just do it solo since I knew the fight really well by that point. Forget who it was but the person a couple pages back who posted the strat of killing the Ledge one first followed by a lot of circle strafing, thanks. That's exactly what I did.

The sentinels became face-roll easy for me once I had a 100% block shield and once I started summoning the NPC helper. He's a caster and he can just bomb on the sentinels with Soul Arrow while you keep them busy. Alternatively he can keep a single sentinel busy long enough for you to kill the other one.

Probably like the flame / heide swords, so-so starter stats and then huge gains with upgrades.

Picking this up after work today, waiting until PC release just isn't working.

It looks and plays well on PS3. No point in waiting IMO

Weird, thought I cleared it top to bottom except the Pharros Lock thing for Wharf - doesn't matter though, decided to restart since I noticed I was missing some stuff people commented on (Dragelic Armor after the Pursuer was one) and was like "Fuck it, I'll reroll rather than run through already cleared areas for no reason doublechecking shit".

Also buckled and blew $30 on the hardcover guide while I was running errands today - don't "need it" from a gameplay perspective but from a not missing items perspective I feel like it's a must. Plus the franchise deserves all the money it can get from me, frankly.

[Also switched to Sorcerer with the reroll for base stats vs. Deprived was used to Deprived being a boon in DS1 - been leaning heavy on nuking when all else fails so sticking with my comfortable spot (especially now that there's herbs to extend cast limits $$ part of why I always hybrided melee so much on DS1 vs. Demon's where I hybrided melee lightly like I'll be doing in DS2 now - probably go whole hog on all cast types though with enough VIT to wear decent armor without fat rolling)]

Haha, rerolling an entire character instead of running through an area for 20 seconds to reach a chest. That's some fucking dedication right there.
