Is there any rhyme or reason to boss fights restoring humanity?
No, From says it's a bug that boss fights ever restore humanity at all.

Also, I've been hoarding effegies and at SL80 with two primals lit I have 19.. Is there a way to farm these later?
Yes, but in limited quantity because the mobs in question are subject to the spawn limits unless you reset their area. It's simpler to just abuse the ring Vaclav mentioned above, or if you run out of effigies entirely then use the altar.

Sean I never saw it answered so I just found the BK Greataxe on the very top of Iron Keep, in a chest guarded by 3 archers.

A little angry. Was about to one shot the wharf boss, which was pretty easy anyways, and my damn dude got stuck in the wall and couldn't move. Lame.

Is there any rhyme or reason to boss fights restoring humanity? The three guys boss before the Last Sinner boss gets me almost every time. Most of the others it seems like they don't.

Sort of. Doing co-op with the small white soapstone will net you silky stones, which you can trade to the birds for a chance at effigies, slabs, etc. That's the only unlimited way to get them that I know of; mobs will stop spawning without NG+ or an ascetic eventually.

Dying in co-op can sometimes restore humanity too.

Is poise a completely worthless stat or something? It doesn't seem to do anything. It almost feels like a bug the way you always get stunned by any damage at all, even the smallest dagger hit from some low-level mob doing a sliver of your HP bar in damage. The only way I can get poise high enough to sometimes avoid getting stunned by a shitty Hollow's weak attack is to wear the old knight's stuff which is far too heavy.

Once you clear the Heide Tower of Flame, dropping a sign near either of the boss entrances and just farming the statues is a descent way to get summons. I spent a couple hours just doing that and managed to get like 20 tokens of fidelity for the blue covenant. The area is easily accessible and lots of people want help on those fights for whatever reason. The Old Dragonrider will net you something like 5k souls per assist. Sentinels and Skeleton Lords are two other good places to drop signs if you want to get assists, once you clear the shortcut paths to both places. The Huntsman's Copse is someplace you will end up backtracking to farm poison cures, anyhow, since you need shit tons for the poison area.

Copse is also a good place to mess around if you want to get invaded, it seems. I have been invaded there several times, but mostly by clearly twinked idiots who built optimized mele rape characters for this purpose that are deliberately under leveled. I am no PvP god by any means, but I have yet to be ganked by these people. I mostly just either get on some hard to reach platform in the waterfall area or go wait on a narrow bridge. None of these guys seem to have any ranged offense and I have killed at least three of them by rolling in close and shield bashing them off a cliff when they are trying to close the gap with me as I soul arrow spam them. Like I said, mostly twinked out morons, which is fine because I have never enjoyed the pvp aspect of this game, really.

That's cool that you're seeing invasions though. Outside of the Belfry, Pharros', and that place where you fight the Rat Vanguard (all Grey Phantom convenant based encounters) I've yet to be invaded by a single soul in any area of the game. I spent some time as a Blue Sentinel as well and have never been summoned to assist someone while I have the ring equipped. I wonder if there's just such a huge pool of players right now, while only a very small percentage becoming dickwraiths. (Unless you're following a guide, the covenant isn't exactly intuitive to get into.)

In other news, I noticed that the PS3 death count got up to 54 million last night. Kind of cool that during the lifespan of the game we're going to see that number climb to absurd numbers.

That's funny because I logged in around 6:00PM EST and it was at 39 million or so. That's a lot of deaths.

Dragonrider isn't even hard, I don't understand. I think he took me 3 attempts. One to learn it, one to get knocked off into the water, and one to smash him.

I actually one shotted Dragonrider using the usual caution, his buddy in the chapel though kept on kicking my ass until I realized you just have to be super aggressive and keep circling to his left, this removed his biggest damage threat(jumping attack).

Both are pretty easy, I died twice to homie in the chapel but yeah..
Dragonride you can literally open the fog gate, let him take 6 steps.. he'll do a lunge attack, run infront and to the right of him.. which will cause him to aim his lunge attack towards the ledge.. when he recovers he simply falls off and you win lol

I one shot it while I was exploring the zone for easy loots, then later when I came back to really clear I noticed there were switches on the way that raise platforms and would have made the fight easier. He's basically like a trash mob. There's a few bosses like that, skeleton kings, the fat worm thing, the sentinel in wharf etc, require absolutely no strategy cause they only have really slow shitty attacks. Quite a bit different than spending 3hours wiping on Mytha; and then finding I could have drained the poison in the most completely random way possible which probably would have made it a 3-4deaths fight. Fuck the asshole who made that btw.

So I've been using the Giant Club upgraded and it's a beast. However, sometimes I turn around and attack in the wrong direction. Anyone else seen this? It's really fucking irritating, and isn't following any sort of pattern.

Other than that, no complaints. Game is great and maddening. I went spoiler free all the way to Earthen Peak, but needed to find some help on the Medusa Looking Boss in the poison pit to figure out how to drain it.

They messed with the swings a bit for the larger weapons, basically just dont move the right stick at all. It does allow you to change direction midswing if you are locked on though, which is handy for faster targets. Using the Greatsword you find in the Wharf and it took a little getting used to but man does it rape.
