Even if you were to stop leveling at 150, and from then on went to PVP full time; you're still collecting souls, which up your SM, which then over time put you against higher and higher soul level players.
They need to add a cap, or something to the SM ceiling-because currently you can sit at 150, collect souls and end up only fighting those whom have like SL 400+ which is retarded as hell.
That's the entire point. It's obvious that From doesn't want people stopping at 150 and PVPing from there forever. They want you to continue playing the game, continue adding NG+, and continue on fighting higher and higher level opponents.

Ah, so like Everquest? I.e. the way to win in PvP is to grind PvE until your character is more powerful than everyone else's. It's not as if the system guarantees that you fight people around your level.

I just learned that every time you gonk someone as a bell keeper, you get a titanite chunk. For risk free fighting that seems pretty ridiculous... at least they're sold this time around.

and in Doors of Pharros, it's just free farming for anyone with spells. Stand on ledge, pull people, kill. At least with my high SM I'm not easy to summon at NG, but I guess NG+ this place will be a nightmare.

Then why did they soft cap every stat so low? Adding SL much past 150 just turns everyone who doesn't intentionally gimp themselves into a Havelmage.

Calling this the best game in the franchise is like saying Batman Arkham Origins is the best of that series.

I like the SM design, but I think the PVP system in Dark Souls isn't really exciting and still is weighted towards the invader. The mechanic is a nice change of pace, but it's no endgame or long term hook for me, personally.

I'm hopeful From's next game has a different coop and PVP system. A new Dark Souls type game with real coop and mods might keep me happy longer than any MMO.

This for sure, if they had a 'real' co op game, this game would be a lot funner

What do you want them to soft cap stats at, 85? Just because returns become diminished doesn't mean they become nonexistent. You can still use whatever gear and play style you want at max level just as you can at level 150. Seems to me that a system in which everyone is identical stat-wise is a system in which skill would become the most apparent (a PvP player's dream?).

They'd need to rebalance shit entirely for coop. If you do bosses in coop in DS2 atm it's easy as shit in comparison. But then you need to design bosses for both coop and solo, since balancing them around coop would make them ridiculous for solo. Tbh I don't care, there's Monster Hunter and Deep Down for coop, I'd rather they focus on a good solo experience.

True, I thought the difficulty was perfect, but I refused to summon for bosses.

As nice as those examples may be, the control scheme oneveryMH game has been generally unplayable for me. If MH had the feel of DS it would be incredibly fun, but it feels like a 15 year old game still lol

How about 40-50 like the other games, instead of 20-30 in this one? Not only are the soft caps much lower, the DR is more pronounced AND you level a hell of a lot faster.

Not that I give one single fuck about Souls PVP, but having everyone with all stats 50+ would be terrible. Having a fixed SL cap that is low enough that you have to make meaningful tradeoffs is the only way to have any variety in builds. Even 150 seems fairly shitty when you consider how powerful Mundane Santier's Spear + Mundane Avelyn + Hexes at the 30/30 softcap is compared to every other build.

So that's your only response? Ok then.

Not giving a fuck about something doesn't prevent someone from seeing how fundamentally broken it is.

Is it just me or are the default gamepad buttons stupid using a ds4 on the pc version? Better yet, I can't seem to rebind them, only the keyboard buttons...
Turns out the problem was with the emulator I was using. When I used a different one all the buttons made way more sense (the right joystick did nothing, the strong attack top triggers turned the camera, etc).

Nothing is as broken as starting Dark Souls 1 late to the party and getting face-fucked by low level people with end game builds. That can't happen in this game = this is a better system to me. Each of the games had a lot of problems but the matchmaking in DS2 is better than either of the previous two games both in terms of reliability and fairness.

The characters may be even, but the circumstances for summons are outright broken so far. Belfry Sol and Luna, maybe I don't get it but guaranteed 2vs1 is not exactly fun. Pharros Doors, getting summoned into kneep deep water with the mastodon and the fucking aids dog still alive and immediately going for you as the player rains down magic on you? ugh.

But you're right, it's still better than being invaded by a level 10 character with a +15 weapon when you're new.

Curious about one thing, if the Pharros door trash dies 15 times in the Rat ganker's game, will they still respawn?

I like that people can't stay level 120 or 150 even through multiple ng+ play throughs, but I agree there will be issues with the relatively low stat soft caps. Something tells me as the game matures the community will come up with a system.

Also, I think some people are hung up on the fact that this isn't just a straight reboot of DS1 with a new world. I was never a hardcore Pvp player in DS1, but I kind of like the change. It forces people to adapt. Stagnation is boring.

I agree that those two areas suck but they don't have much to do with Vorph's complaint about SM. I joined the rat covenant to avoid invasions in Saints/Pharros and I have completely avoided Belfry until I need to join that covenant and farm some chunks.

The only saving grace of the Belfrys is that 99% of the people trying to pvp in them are godawful terrible. But yea, I'm pretty miffed otherwise about how shittily they are designed. I mean, 0 cooldown at all on invasions? Getting the "soandso has invaded" message while the defeat message of the last invader is still fading is pretty stupid. If you go in to the first Belfry at roughly the right level it's just an endless chain of 2v1 spam until you're dead.

I don't mind the Belfry areas. They are short, and if you don't want to face a 1v2 you can summon a sunbro to help you out. If you're undead, just put your own sign down and help someone to be revived.
