Every time someone criticizes the state of the SA, someone comes along and says "DUDE DID YOU READ THE DISCLAIMER??" The gripes that Wrathcaster has are the same that I have. We're not criticizing an alpha for its lack of polish and playability, we're (and I think fairly) asking what the fuck Rocket has been doing in the 2 years since the SA has been announced. No one expected a finished game. But me personally not having played DayZ for about six months, I can't fathom how such little apparent progress has been made.I'd like to imagine you have some sort of game development experience. I'd also like to imagine that you truly understand the time sinks involved when creating a game from the ground up with the amount of tediousness involved such as DayZSA. But honestly I don't think you understand. Did you at all do your homework? Did you even read the many warnings and messages stating that this was a bare bones alpha? Did you even read where Rocket told people NOT to buy the game? I'm going to go out on a limb here and say no, no you didn't. I have played DayZ:Mod and it's many incarnations. I enjoy the standalone because it brings back the true nature of the beast. This isn't Battlefield. This isn't CoD. This is a SURVIVAL game. Come back to the Standalone in 6 months. See where it's at then. Then make your judgment. I'm willing to bet you'll be eating this post with some Pipsi to drink.
The MOD wasn't even released to the public 2 years ago. The SA didn't begin until the middle of last year. It was supposed to be released by XMAS then was scrapped at which point it has taken exactly ONE year to get to the point of where they're at now. I'm GOING to ask you why didn't you read the disclaimers because. WHY DID YOU NOT?! How on earth can you criticize a game that was even told by the creator NOT to buy it. Your logic kills me. As far as your 30 dollar contribution. Have you read the patch notes from the last 3 patches that have been coming out once a day?? Rocket has stated he wanted a stable architecture for the game instead of piling in all these features that may or may not work and have a game that's in worse condition than what it's in now.Every time someone criticizes the state of the SA, someone comes along and says "DUDE DID YOU READ THE DISCLAIMER??" And no, I don't have any experience in game development, so you're free to reply to me with a dismissive attitude, as well. But I think since the SA was originally set to go live like a year ago makes a lot of people wonder what exactly has been done because as Wrathcaster said it feels like a big step back.
That said, the game is still somewhat fun to play.I just want to have some sort of reassurance that the $30 i payed to help further the game's development wasn't for nothing. Oh, and considering that I just spent 15 minutes running from a group of zombies that (1) wouldn't break aggro and (2) kept coming through the walls when i tried to hide indoors, and more often than not they only have to hit me one time to make me bleed, i'm not in a hurry for a larger zombie population until their poor functionality isn't quite so deadly.
Again, you're missing the point. My criticism is not "this game is so bad omg i wasted my money," its "what have they been doing all this time?" No need to get so worked up. I still think the game is fun, I still play it. I just question the pace of progress and worry --because of the pace thus far--that it will take a long time to get the game to a playable state. The MOD wasn't even released to the public 2 years ago. I am. I'll be playing tomorrow night for sure. Steamid: Utnayanannnnnd I'm downloading Nether since it's on sale on Steam today, anyone else playing?
Nether is a smaller game map wise. It's PvP and still server based. You are a scavenger just as in DayZ. Graphics are good (Unreal engine) and you still feel accomplishment when looting items. You still need to eat and drink, you still need to find items, and it has a character level up system. When you die, it all goes to where you died - you can pick it up if someone else doesn't get it first, which usually isn't the case. Every now and then an invasion of Nether will hit the safe zone, and everyone has to work together to fend off the invasion and reset it. The main thing here is that you aren't running for 5 hours to get somewhere. Although it still feels like you are knee deep in a survive at all costs scenario. It has a better and more enhanced inventory system, is easy to pick up and just play. Basically it is mini DayZ without the headaches of a horrible interface and a smaller arena. Trust me when I say, especially since it is on sale, you will enjoy this a lot if you like DayZ. Join us Saturday night.so nether? sell me on this game ut
i wanna spend my money on this, dayz sA or dayz arma2

Wasn't bad but having to start and stop the game over and over to get my mouse sensitivity just right is a bit annoying. I'm going to fuck with it more here shortly, most of the loot I found was always around tents I noticed.Whatdya think Heko? I saw you played for about an hour.
100% flat out wrong.Nether is just WarZ 2.0, I don't know how Ut of all people can possibly recommend it.
Arms2 Dayz Epoch. Vanilla Dayz is boring after playing the more MMO-like Epoch.so nether? sell me on this game ut

Nope, the game I bought says Nether. It's the WarZ. The entire inventory system, character creation, marketplace, loot hoard system, everything, is cribbed right from WarZ. It's "made" by a mobile game studio with funding from the same people who funded WarZ, and shares most of the same publishing staff.
NOPE, NOT WARZ AT ALL.
