Yeah it is a mess there, looking into dwarven axe/tower shield tank. Dwarf/lawful good. Looking for a tanking/shield bash build.

Honestly I reinstalled this game and I strongly believe it's not worth coming back to.

It's just devolved into a game where the core of people who have been playing nothing else have 3 times my hp, 5-6 stat points and god knows how many more skills points than I do, speed-running through reaper content with no regards to the fact that I may not know exactly every fucking details of every dungeon ever.

It's really ruining my appreciation for what this game used to be.

I would highly suggest just running a new toon and doing all the quests on N once through. Arti is probably the ez mode for that, you get construct and regular heals and great ranged options off the bat.

This is still fun, lots ways to play. Currently running bard/rogue and cleric/ranger game is so easy now you can try fun combos these days...

Bumping the thread because they just dropped a new xpac this week. New quests are level 5/6 heroic and level 32 legendary. They reworked augments again. New outdoor level 5 zone. If you get the expensive versions you get a level 5 and level 30 hireling. I'll go on record here and say the xpac hirelings are fucking amazeballs. They are all gold meaning you can have as many of them as you want + a store bought one at the same time. If you have them all you get them at 5, 10, 15, 17, 18(2), 25, and 30(3). This means you will have at least one ready to roll at most points in the game. The new ones are bards with heals and haste, too.

Next update will be a "mini" xpac called The Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh. New outdoor zone. 10 new 3/32 quests including a saga. Full new gear sets with a new set bonus. Should be dropping soonish, they just did a final preview last week. Between Keep/Saltmarsh/Feywild they are pretty much making low levels a breeze.

I see they released update 58 last month. I have been too busy with WOW and Diablos lately to log in to DDO. I should get on that.

I've gotten back into playing this. They have hardcore servers now that come out every few months and it really revitalizes the gameplay experience. For a bit at least. Then you get one shot by some ice flesner you forgot about with his bullshit 300 damage polar ray at level 14 and log back out in disgust. There's a certain hilarious macabre fun to being in a group, someone dies to a trap due to lack of skill or lag, you all press F and then move on.

Man this game had some serious potential back in the day. Kind of fell apart once you got crazy builds later in the teens iirc. I just remember the dungeons with traps murdering people were hilarious.

Haha, that's the absolute best part of the game when playing in a group with your buddies. Main was a monk, and you just run through everything, jumping around, not giving a shit, and your buddy's sorcerer just explodes from a trap. Yelling and cursing, but also hysterical laughter simultaneously on TeamSpeak. It's wonderful, especially if everybody's drinking.

The game really is a hell of a lot of fun, especially with a group. I never mind friends have been threatening to fire it back up. I only remember my account info, but I'm sure it probably wouldn't be difficult to dredge up.

My haat goes off to them, I'll read about it here and there, and it really seems that they put a hell of a lot of content into the game, and it's not as if it didn't have a ton of stuff I never got to see when I played it 10 to 15 years ago or something.

They have semi regular events where they give away most of the non-xpac modules. And the older xpacs are pretty cheap all things said.

Yeah anytime we used to fire it back up I would just go ahead and pay for the $10 a month subscription that way you get access to everything. It's like what the hell 10 bucks or so over a couple of months if we were playing regularly was worth it. Not like I was spending that gaming budget on another game.

I don't even remember what the expansion was that I had last maybe played. I think artificers had just come out. It's been a very long time, every now and then I'll go to their website just to see what they're doing, and I'm glad that they're still making stuff on the game's chugging along.

The community is pretty damn loyal, kind of the same thing with the Lord of the rings game, which we all played that for a while and I loved it.

It's just so goddamn hard to get back into an MMO nowadays with this life work and stuff.

I triggered the fuck out of Vorph Vorph and Daezuel Daezuel one time by getting impatient/forgetful and running forward into the traps when we were grinding some elite dungeons, don't remember if it was part of the Vault of Night or Litany of the Dead. I took no damage but everyone else died.

I still play this a couple times a week, but I spend 98% of my time soloing. My character has existed since the game released and been max level forever, but I have yet to TR a single time.

I almost wear it like a badge of honor because I routinely keep up with or even outperform people with dozens of past lives. I don't think that says as much about me as it does the playerbase, but it's certainly not surprising because a HUGE chunk of people that play the game are 50+ years old.
