I had the game all sorted out, build roads and support network, gather stuff, make deliveries, avoid BTs and all was sensible and normal if a bit dull.

Then I got to Chapter 4.

They also have the idea that the chiral network allows instantaneous data transmission and that it actually sends the data back in time to arrive at the end point.

If you think of it like a normal database, and think as every Knot being a node in a database, then the data transmission thing makes sense. Like in regular DB's as more and more nodes are added to the primary, the amount of info you can get out of it increases.

Whats weird is the formula's the Q-pids show every time you connect are black-hole theory formulas(from what I've read), a time traveling database that holds all the info that the UCA needs to remove the Beach problem(I still think it's a anti-matter singularity that caused it, why not right..)

The black hole thing also makes sense if you’ve read Revelation Space by Alastair Reynolds. Which I just recently have so the concept was sorta fresh on my mind.

Is there some translation error or something? Port City seems to be around the Memphis area and would make sense as a Port if it were on the Mississippi, but I’m trying to cross a lake??

Well I'm kind of stuck until I get a replacement ssd tomorrow. It crashes constantly. I hope that's the problem with it. I tried just about everything else.

Never had any PS4 issues until I upgraded to SSD.

Such bullshit.

I think we are meant to think that the world got shattered by the whatever apocalypse that kicked all this off...hence the giant sea in the middle of the country.

But yeah given that I can drive from Ohio to Texas in about 4 mins I think any direct literal mapping is likely out the window.

Is there much variety in the environments? Every video I've seen so far has the same grass covered rocky landscape.

The game should have come out with PS5 with how pretty it could be but it would still suck ass.

There are some urban concrete decay to navigate but up through where I am its been pretty much Mars landscape as a rule. Hence my comment about how amazing roads are once you start building them.

The further west you go the more varied the environment becomes, I've started running into a lot of snow regions lately.

How much difference does difficulty setting make? Started on hard just in case, but figured I'd see what others thought about whether it just makes it [even more] tedious or what.

There is NO fighting in the game at all? Not even like a boss encounter?
There’s bosses. You eventually start getting handguns and rifles. There’s different types for fighting humans (which you don’t want to kill because they become ghosts) and for fighting the BTs.

Well I’m over 20 hours in and still in chapter 3, but I built a large amount of roads, and did tons of deliveries between Engineer, Craftman, Elder and Lake Knot City and that distribution Center to the west of it. Almost have all of those maxed out in reputation.

It’s a weird game, all you do is deliver stuff and I’m somehow having tons of fun and totally addicted. :)

I’ll probably finish the roads in this area and max out the reputation with all delivery points and then head back to the first area and max out reputation there. Not sure if there’s any benefit but OCD demands that I do it. :)

I highly suggest doing as many engineer deliveries as possible to get the level 3 robotic legs. Let’s you carry up to 300kgs.

after watching a playthrough and seeing the ending, all I can say is this would have been an amazing cult classic movie that probably wouldn't make much money, and is a mediocre game with a great story that will make millions and millions for everyone involved.

pretty interesting dynamic really, a sci fi "movie" like this could probably only exist in this medium

I will say the story for this is way more coherent than MGS5 even though it involves baby ghost detectors and evil slime whales.

My brain is telling me I will hate this game because I hate traveling and tedium in open world games, but you assholes are telling my heart to play it.

I loved every moment of the MGS games until about 15 hours into 5 when I got tired of running across dirt and quit. Must not give in to temptation!
