I have those but never bothered to use them. Honestly not sure the benefit either, not like any of my PCs ever rattled or anything.

Going by this, faster ram does seem better for 9800X3D as well.

Another one to watch - timestamped. Anything beyond CL30 6000MHz is minimal and probably only worthwhile if you have already maxed out everything else.

Yeah. They are big. I got the Performance and the gf couldn't carry it very far. Huge. Heavy. Total breeze to work on. Very well built.

It's too fucking heavy. Sending it back; getting a Torrent Compact even if it's going to be a bitch to cable. Luckily this machine won't have many.

Now I want it even more. Unfortunately I have no good reason to do a swap from my Phanteks P500a. Probably won't be doing a new build for another year at the earliest.

Antec makes a sweet case these days. Interior top part comes off, makes installing anything easy. Flux Pro is made for liquid cooling, also very easy to do. I got an EK liquid cooler, interior has a huge amount of space and no obstructions. It is pretty chonk, though. GF thought she could carry it, made it from the kitchen table to the stairs and gave up.

It has been on my radar since I saw the GN review of it. I built a system in a Torrent for a friend, so that urge is out of my system. I haven't done a build in an Antec since the good old 900.

I'm not much for the showcase PCs, I just want a roomy box with good airflow to build in. The less glass the better and I still need space for a few HDD cages.

The 900 lasted me forever, so building in a good Antec case would be a nice shot of nostalgia.

New Fractal North XL case w/ Noctua fans, loving it and it's keeping my gear nice and cool.

Well, maybe or maybe didn't get a card this morning. We'll see if order is cancelled. Went back a few pages to try and put together a potential build around the 9070 XT. This will be a completely separate machine so won't reuse parts from my current setup. NewEgg does have a combo for the 9800x3d and X870E Taichi for -$20 off. Or I could just go a little cheaper mobo. Not really going to min/max the crap out of this thing.

I fished around for CL30 / DDR5-6000 or 6400 and there were a few options so just hit the G.Skill. 32 gig saved $100 over 64 so went with that for now. Didn't seem to be much savings in a 750W - 1000W power supply so just picked the Corsair b/c I'm running the RM850 in this machine.

haven't there been some issues with Asrock MB's frying 9800x3ds? might want to look into that.

You also don't need a $440 board for a 9800X3D. Any B650E board will give you everything but USB4.0.

I guess so browsing Reddit. I'll keep the Megathread open and see what happen.

I think that's a good point. It was the combo from NewEgg so easy enough to click. I looked at some of the B650E after the fact (and watch a few more YouTube videos) and tend to agree. We'll see what happens with this Reddit thread. I've gotta go to Vegas for IWCE coming up most of it will sit here unopened and I can return it.

Doing a BTF build seems like a cool idea also, but the North XL doesn't seem to support it.

TLDW so far is they're looking into it and don't have anything solid yet. Main theory is they are actually undervolting the CPU a little in some instances so they're not getting fried and a BIOS rollback or update to a beta will fix it.

I had my first gpu ever completely die. My 4090 FE just stopped turning on last week, got the RMA approval yesterday and sending it back tomorrow. I refuse to open a 5090 just to play PoE2.
