They will have made their money already.
I dont see it when the cards they are buying are going for more than double msrp and the value of these coins is only dropping.

The whole reasoning behind people getting into mining is "bitcoin/ether/whatever went up!". Not, "amazon just said they are going to start accepting cypto! its going to go up!". There is zero actual demand for coins aside from fringe internet use.

Oh, I meant the people who bought them out at MSRP-ish prices.

Someone on another non computer related forum posted they had an ad for 15 1080ti's used from mining for sale lol. I thought they were using 1070's but I guess they had enough. They were 500ish I didn't read the whole ad.

I saw a while back KFC was going to start taking bitcoin, that seemed like a sure way to lose all your money thru fees.

God I am so boned right now. My 980ti is dying, getting constant display driver crashes/recoveries while playing games. Reinstalling windows with fresh new drivers doesn't resolve it, and video card prices are fucking insane right now. Nvidia pls when is 1100 series launching.

Fuck you buttcoins.

Someone on Reddit said something but if you can sell a used card right now the market is crazy hot. I can sell my used 1070 for $800, 1080/ti are going in the $1000-1300 range. If you got a backup card might as well strike while it's hot and buy something better.

one man's trash is another man's treasure

On my way home from work yesterday I happened across a Dell Optiplex put out on the curb, and the natural scavenger/recycler in me kicked in and picked it up. Much to my delight it was fully intact check out these specs...i7-7700, 8GB (single stick with 4 slots) of DDR4, and a Sandisk x400 ssd!

These specs blow away my current gaming/primary PC so I'm considering doing the following

1. pickup a new mobo that supports the newer cpu/ram and use the case/graphics/ps/storage I have

2. Frankenstein the mobo out of the Dell and into my case so I can add my graphics card

3. As this little Dell has usb3.1 try to find/build and external GPU and keep everything where it is

As a person who pays bills unlike my five dependents who generate them, money is a factor here as well

your thoughts?

obligatory info...
Yes I scanned the drive for porn, pics, movies and music before wiping
I did not scavenge the MS keys out of it as it was in a business with likely their licensing
not all my five dependents are cats

Yep

My friend bought a 1080ti recently at retail but miners are swooping in and decimating inventory. Go check eBay and see the absurd prices.

I bought a 1050ti for my 2nd/work computer a while back. I paid $139 for it. Looked on Amazon yesterday at my orders, the price now is $309 to $499 for the same card. In the rustle your jimmies thread someone posted someone buying a dozen 1080ti's and posting pictures - to mine with. Just a quick glance at Newegg showed 1080ti's at $1100ish and up.
