Haha, i had sliced up a finger while i was making dinner a couple nights back and i keep a first aid kit in the room. However aside from my impatience the case was very easy to build in and since i only used some phanteks D30s i didnt have a ton of cords to route around. Still looks like chaos inside the case but its relatively minor in comparison to a full tower build. Great case, will like it even more when the wood front panel becomes available to purchase.

I just ordered this for a new PC build.

We'll see if EverQuest's dumpster-tier integration of DirectX 11 stutters when I throw a Ryzen 7950X3D at it.

If not using RT then a XTX would net you better perf all around over a 4080. You could also find it used for $700 or so as well.

I'm interested in trying ray tracing!

I viewed exactly zero benchmarks before buying, but from Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 GPU Benchmark (which is the first game I'm playing with my new PC) it looks like the 4080 Super generally beats the 7900 XTX, and prices for the XTX look to be around $900, or $50 cheaper than what I paid for the 4080 Super.

Ebay looks like it's pushing it north of $800. What ebay auctions have you seen with the 7900 XTX at $700?

Hey friends, it's been a while. I keep getting a DPC_Watchdog_Violation blue screen and after swapping tons of parts, including RAM, SSD, power supply, and other things I'm pretty sure my CPU is bad. Stats are listed below, but what would be the easiest way to replace the CPU? My guess would be AMD motherboard/CPU combo? After I built this thing with the sweet COVID tendies I stopped following things. Is there a best bang for buck out there? Thank you all!

if you believe it's a cpu issue and you want to upgrade and you game w/ it, get a 5800x3d, the x3d is the last best am4 cpu, otherwise you can move onto am5, get a 7800x3d a new b650 mb and get new ddr5 memory

have you done all the basic things? windows up, drivers update

did you check the minidump? c\windows\minidump
use this viewer

are you using anything to connect your network besides the ethernet on the motherboard?

Working on it. Slow going when there’s one day a year my attic falls below “3rd level of hell” degrees so I can get up there to run cable.

No, but seriously, I’m working on it. Last year bought all my stuff and then had some surgeries and a baby. Looking forward to picking it back up this fall when it cools off and we have some down time.

I get 1Gbps over Wi-Fi so why bother?
It's unreliable! Or, at least it was for just about everyone on this forum to remember like it was 'Nam. Don't use the microwave! The last time I gave wifi a serious try, I had to go into the registry and turn off the Nagle algorithm so it wouldn't fuck up my ping.

that mb doesn't have wifi
It was more so to rule out is just being driver issues - i find it hard to believe the cpu is causing that because i had that issue once many failed mmo's ago and i dont recall fixing it by buying another part.

Yea, I went through everything and have WinDBG to view the mini dumps which didn't really give any clues. There seemed to be a mention of nVidia in one of the dumps but with other problems, it didn't really fit. I'm hard wired only into the motherboard.

As Lanx said, I don't have built-in Wi-fi, but I've updated all the drivers for the motherboard like Chipset, and made sure I'm on latest BIOS firmware. I've replaced the power supply, and SSD, and swapped RAM sticks around after a clean memtest86 to just make sure. Temps according to HWW Monitor were all fine even under load, as a thought I had was maybe the AIO pump or something went bad and it was freezing due to heat, but again that wouldn't be causing DPC Watchdog Violation blue screens.

I forgot AM5 had come out and while the speed boost from the new CPU and DDR5 would be nice, I think I'll just look up prices on that 5800x3d.

and holy shit never mind. It's cheaper to get a Microcenter 3-in-1 combo than it is to find a 5800x3d.

I want to upgrade to one of the upcoming cpu's but i feel they wont have a good mATX or any at all on release day. I am suddenly regretting going mATX if that ends up being the case.
