Yup, sounds about right. Most games won't ever get up to that kind of a load, more like 60-70% of whatever it hits with the two programs running. Be careful with Furmark, it can definitely fry a GPU if you don't have good enough cooling.

So I'm building a new PC and I've settled on the Asus Sabertooth vs the Asus Maximus VI Hero but having difficulty narrowing down compatible RAM due to A) their QVL list shows the shittiest combo's for Corsair / G.Skill and Crucial B) Aftermarket coolers are again going to risk getting in the way of RAM slots C) what speed am I looking at, cause I see some bitching good Corsair Vengeance sets @ 1886 and higher but they have a CAS of 10/11.

Computer is all together and up and running. Going through and installing all my programs now. You guys weren't kidding about the SSD though. Shit is just smoking fast, I am absolutely loving it. Only issue I have at the moment is I installed 16gb of ram, but it is only showing 8gb. Need to open the computer back up and make sure I seated it properly.

Old computer: Q6600 2.4 ghz, 4gb ram, GTX 260
New Computer: i7 4770k, 16gb ram, GTX 760, SSD

make sure you have the RAM is the proper slots. Is it 2x8GB or 4x4GB or what? If it's 2x8GB you need to pair the RAM by skipping slots.

It is 2x8GB. Just opened it back up and it wasn't seated all the way in. All set now!

Not sure if anyone with a Catleap or other 120hz monitor has recently updated their nvidia drivers, but I'd stay away from the 326 series of drivers. Won't detect my Catleap at all and had to do a pretty thorough driver clean and revert back to like 314 just to get it to reinstall.

For future reference if you didn't know about this site it really helps when building new computers:www.ninite.com

They took Flash and some other stuff off there, PM if you're interested in getting those. I have the old updaters saved and run them once a week to keep everything updated.

Slightly off-top but wasn't sure where else to post this. I am running an online webinar next week with like 15-20 companies. I need to share my screen with upwards of 25 people at once and would prefer to keep it so all they need to do is go to a link in order to see the screen. Does anyone have any free websites or software they use for this?

Very difficult to do with the available services. You may as well stream it through Justin.tv or whatever its called.

Yeah, this is why Citrix makes a ton of money. Gotomeeting is pretty much what you need and it's not free. Google free alternatives to gotomeeting but they all suck. Best bet is just getting OBS and streaming through Justin.tv I guess.

AMD changing it's naming/numbering scheme for graphics cards

http://www.extrahardware.com/news/am...-named-r9-xxxx
I've never liked the naming conventions for graphics cards. I'd much prefer something closer to how cars are named, with a year/make/model style and simpler names using fewer numbers. So for example a "2013 Nvidia ExtremeCard". If another version is released in the same year, just append a "version 2" or something at the end so it's clear that it's an upgraded version of the previous card. If a less powered version is released call it "2013 Nvidia ExtremeCard Budget".

I've always hated how if you're out of the technology game for a year or two it's easy to get lost regarding which cards came out when and how they relate in power with each other. Seeing the year and a consistant model name for each card would simplify things I think.

I know what you are saying, but cards can easily be distinguished by price. Even if youre out of the game for a few years, it will take you literally 30 min of investigating by price point which cards are which and how much you are willing to spend

For instance today you have the $150, $200, $250, $300, $350+ ranges... Both Nvidia and AMD have cards at those levels give or take a few bucks. So you take your price point that you want to spend, lets say its the $250 range, and then compare benchmarks of the AMD and Nvidia showings at that price range.

I just hate when the two companies start playing the name game and recycling old products. I've seen people talking about buying the new nVIDIA 770 cards, which are simply rebadged and slightly tweaked old 680 cards. (Hint: The GPU in both the old 680 and the new 770 share the same GK 104 chip, the 770 simply has tweaked clock speeds)

The companies have done this before to squeeze out more cash from an old architecture. Not that that in itself is bad, I just wish they would be more up front about it. I find it decieving to just slap a new label on an old product.
