Ordered all my parts from Newegg and they even had NZXT H440 case I wanted in stock. I would of picked the fractal but I really wanted this one for the clean look. Now you guys making me considering ordering another asus 760 for SLI with all this talk!

Waste of money dude. Unless youre dead set on running everything as maxxed as possible. But then youre just chasing games form year to year with throwing more money at them.

760 GTX is plenty for 1080p. I run BF4 at 30-40fps right now with a AMD 6850, lol. Is it maxxed? Of course not its on med. But it still looks beautiful.

Finally able to max BF4 @ 5960x1080 @ 60fps constant. Victory is mine! However I'm probably gonna have to add the 780s to my loop now, because the top card gets really toasty and it's fucking with my overclocks

The ACX cooler really is terrific. The problem with them in SLI is usually your x16 slots are spaced such that these double-width cards will be sitting very close next to each other. So one card exhausting right onto the back of the PCB of another isn't great.

However, backplates help a ton, and if your case has optimized airflow its much less of an issue really. To the point where I'd rather SLI two evga's with ACX than with blower coolers.

IN progress of moving this week so once I get unpacked will be checking my case/mobo to see how well it would fit together. Hopefully won't be an issue.

Viewing angles will also be worse than an IPS panel. If you can stand to wait, Asus should be launching that same monitor + the gsync addon sometime this year and 'native' lightboost (not having to use extra software to trick your monitor into thinking you are running 3D).
Ya but isn't it going to be $800?

i7 2600k @ 4.8Ghz, Cooler Master Glacer 240L, MSI P67A-GD65 B3, 32GB Corsair XMS3, GTX 780 SLi, 3x LG 32LN5300, Win 8 Pro, CM HAF 932, Antec Truenew 750

Solid.
That coolermaster is basically made by Swiftech, right? How do you like it?
Its pretty much a closed loop though, are you thinking of going with a custom loop to put your 780's under water too?

Ya it's a Swiftech H220 clone that is legal in the US because Coolermaster already had the patents from Asetek. It's semi-closed, but completely modifiable so I'll just add my GPUs to it. Might add a 120 rad but pump should be enough for the loop. I need to do it anyway because my pump has an air bubble stuck in it and it's annoying at anything over 2k pump speed.

So I ended up picking this monitor up as well for $270. Seems like a good deal on a good monitor.

ASUS VS278Q-P Black 271 Built-in Speakers - Newegg.com
I literally just had 2 of those delivered to me at noon today from Amazon for $242 a piece (Amazon.com: ASUS VS278Q-P) - putting them on a dual monitor stand later today ... I know people like to shit on 27" 1080p monitors, because they aren't 1440, but that resolution is way too small for me to read otherwise.

That is a great power supply. Super stable voltages at all loads, runs very quiet and very cool even under high loads.

Since I've started reading this thread, I've felt I've stumbled into a foreign language. I've seriously never felt so gimpy when it comes to computers. The last box I built was YEARS ago, and SSD, as far as I know, only dealt with RAM. Now the SSD is it's own drive? I understand that it greatly enhances the speed of the operating system if it is installed on the SSD. Is it really needed other than that?

And I'm still trying to work out SLI and Crossfiring video? cards? Is that something I even need to consider as a casual gamer who doesn't mind playing on lower resolutions/video rendering, etc.?

I'm still learning. :/

SSD is basically a flash based hard drive, no mechanical parts. It's the best upgrade you can make to a computer imo.

As for SLi/Crossfire - no. Casual gaming doesn't require that much GPU horsepower. It's usually reserved for ultra high resolution, multi-monitor, or 120/144hz refresh.

When choosing a GPU, do you guys stick with a certain brand?

I built a machine with an i5 4670k, asus Z87-a mb, 8 gb of crucial RAM, a corsair 600 watt ps and a corsair carbide 200r case for $555. I thought that was a great price for all five.

I am considering saving up for the GTX 770 but what brand should I get or just go buy best price?

I just go by price. Evga is probably considered the best but even pny has a lifetime warranty now.

Yeah, I have no brand loyalty at all when it comes to video cards. They're 90% the same anyways. Some brands may have slightly different cooling (blower vs 2 or 3 fans), and some may come slightly overclocked out of the box(but you can almost always just do the same yourself through included overclocking software), so I almost always buy purely based on price. If someone has the card $10 cheaper than everyone else, they get my business. I've had cards from EVGA, Galaxy, PNY, and MSI, and they are all perfectly fine.
