I think you're in a sweet spot. Maybe a little overpowered for WoW/SC2/D3? Maybe. But you are at a sweet spot for most of the items.

Yeah I wouldn't get anything less. Maybe you can scrimp on the video card, go down to a $250 760GTX or a AMD R9 280 or something. But the core of your system is pretty sound for price vs performance.

That motherboard has built-in WiFi, you shouldn't need an additional one for it - assuming that is why you're asking.

Also, you can get a SD Card hub off Newegg.

The 270X is better than the 660GTX. but one of the ones you listed is $250 and for $250+ youre up in the 760GTX or even the better 280X range.

That xfx card OCs like a champ too. I would personally go for the 760GTX. Its like the sweet spot for 1080p and price. For $250 its ahugestep up from what you have right now. I know its $50 more than what you want to spend but it will be worth it.

Oh, and your PSU is more than plenty.

Mko is right, 270x has a little bit of an edge, but it's not 50$ worth (Or 70$)..You can get a 660Gigabytefor 180.

For price performance in that range, the Radeon 265 looks like the closest performance, at 160$--but they are hard to find, supposedly.

If you're going to 250$, the 760 is the choice imo.

Samsung evo pro 240 gig ssd to replace my slower and much older 60 gig ssd (this time I actually checked out the benchmarks and stats). The hard drive is really the biggest bottle neck in the modern world, this machine is just so much more responsive and snappy in comparison to my hard drive using desktops. Programs, games, everything loads extremely fast. The response time is ridiculous on everything on the computer. After tweaking the system and the registry for ssd's even websites load a quarter of a second faster and instantaneously mostly because I visit the same sites usually i guess. But even sites not in the cache load faster. It helps that I already have high bandwidth and less then 30 ms latency to popular net locations but this just takes it to the next level.

Most programs including the browser are always accessing and writing to the disks whether it's cache or whatever. The seek times in these things are also ridiculous.

Well after a good 8 years I am finally saying good bye to my Dell 24inch IPS monitor. I came home to a power outage; everything rebooted except the monitor. I tried a different cable, power socket etc but to no avail.

I have been out of the loop when it comes to monitors and was wondering if anyone had a good suggestion for around 500$. Looking for a 24-27 strictly for gaming.

I bought the Asus one a couple pages back, 27" for around $375 before shipping, it's NVIDIA 3D ready and totally awesome. For $500 you could probably go even more fluff but around $400 is a solid investment.

Guess it's worth trying.

I built a version of the computer mkopec suggested pages back last week. I5 4670k, Z87, Evga GTX 760, 8 gb ram, ssd drive (never had one of these holy shit). Think my total cost was about $900 shipped. Cut a few corners with no cdrom, old monitor, old hdd, and 100% discounted version of windows. Has ran every game I've thrown at it using ultra settings and couldn't be more satisfied with the build.

I caved in and bought the Dell U2713HM Ultrasharp. I had such a good run with its predecessor, that I just couldn't help it. The price tag came up to 600$ free shipping. Hopefully it lasts through the 3 year warranty.

Looks good but for the non K proc, you dont need a Z board. Go with H or B and save a few pennies. Also 16gb of ram is overkill. 8gb is the sweet spot these days.

Part of my plan is to "future proof" the thing because they are not computer literate. I could drop it to 8, and it's something I'm thinking about, but going to see what she says about price.

Is the K suffix representing of overclocking ability or was it another option? Can't remember.
