You realize that SSD's improve the entire computing experience, and not just booting, right?

Right?
Do they? *shrug*

Mine doesn't feel all that incredible. My games boot somewhat more quickly than the games in my HDD for sure. Is it worth such a crazy cost/GB increase? I'm not so sure.

An SSD is the most drastic upgrade & new piece of hardware I've added to my PC since 3d accelerators came on the market 17-18 years ago. Everything is just snappy and instant, from web browsers, to quicker virus scanning, to games loading so fast you can even read the tips on the loading screens. It would be difficult for me to use a computer without one now.

Pretty much this. It's something that once you get used to it, you don't necessarily notice much. But if you go use a computer that has a platter drive, the damn thing nearly feels broken.

I CLICKED THE ICON LIKE TWO SECONDS AGO AND NOTHING IS HAPPENING!

Is someone seriously arguing SSD's aren't worth it? Really? I could see this argument when they very FIRST came out since they were so damn expensive but even for someone trying to do a budget build I'd still recommend getting one because of how fucking drastic of a difference they make.

Honestly... I haven't used a PC other than mine in years. I'm probably just underestimating how nice my SSD feels lol.

Well I have two. I have an older i5 2500K and a newer i5 3870K or 3850 or whatever that I built with a SSD right off the bat. And the difference was definitely noticeable between SSd and non SSD, even the kids complained that it was slow as hell so they fought to play on the new one. It wasnt even a contest. The i5 2500K felt like an old laptop compared to the new one. So I had to get an SSD for the 2500K system as well. And now its just as fast as the other one.

I'm going to start making a list of nerds who suck at being nerds. Quaid and that moron who didnt understand PC vs Console are first on the list.

Could you also slap together a Common Computer Core curriculum to reeducate the wannabe nerds? Perhaps design some Mac software for training courses.

So anyone game wirelessly and have a good recommendation for mouse and keyboard? I get a lotta missed inputs on my keyboard and, even worse, fairly bad lag on my mouse.

I just built a system and think it was a pretty good price, all from frys. Even beat new eggs price on the video card by 10$

I5 4590 has well
8gig 1600 MHz ram
256 gb ssd (toshiba)
MSi night blade sff gaming box with 600W Psu and BR/DVD, MSI z97 gaming mb
Evga gtx 770 with 2 gig ddr5, acx cooling

Hasn't crashed once in 2 weeks so far.
Ffxiv and archeage maxed everything at 1080p and CPU temp peaked at 73 (haven't gotten a GPU temp monitor yet tho)

Total damage $1198

Here's what I've been looking to upgrade to:

GIGABYTE GA-Z97X-UD5H-BK LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gbs USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard - Newegg.com
Intel Core i7-4790K Haswell Refresh Quad-Core 4.0GHz LGA 1150 Desktop Processor BX80646I74790K - Newegg.com - Newegg.com
SAMSUNG 840 EVO MZ-7TE500BW 2.5 - Newegg.com
G.SKILL Trident X Series 16GB Desktop Memory Model F3-1600C7D-16GTX - Newegg.com

Left off video card because of new stuffs coming out soonish. Will probably buy everything through Amazon (just prefer Newegg for browsing) since I have $200 credit with them via their credit card rewards. It's actually a pretty sweet deal if you're like me and buy a ton of stuff on there cause of free Prime shipping. 3% cash reward for Amazon purchases which since November of last year for me has added up to $200 to use on their site.

Will probably buy something really similar to this when the 880s come out.

Did a nice little Micro build a couple months ago, very satisfied with the result. Very Quiet, very peppy, doesn't get very hot, so it doesn't need a lot of noisy fans.

If you make the list I'll edit the original post with people who's recommendations and viewpoints should be ignored.
