Also, side note, I have aCorsair CX750M 750W Modular Power Supplythat I ordered a while back and haven't even opened. It was purchased when I thought my SeaSonic from 2007 was finally dead but ended up not using the Corsair. As of this post it is on Amazon for $90 but I would be fine with $65-70 which is a pretty damn good deal, just let me know what you think is fair. Help me cover the shipping if you're outside of Minnesota or I could meet up if you happen to live near the Twin Cities. Shoot me a PM if interested.

Why a 780Ti over a 980? A 980 wins in 99% of gaming benchmarks in all resolutions from 1080p on up to 4K. They're basically the same price, $500-$550 USD. I have to think the 4GB on the 980 cards is going to be an even bigger advantage over the next year or two as games start using higher resolutions as gamers start using 1440p and 4k resolutions more.

I was wondering why it took someone that long to call him out on that. No reason to buy a 780Ti these days. Go 970 SLI for just slightly more $ and have a significant performance increase.

Yeah, 970 SLI would smoke both, by a good 50-75%, for only like $100 more in price. Assuming a game supports SLI properly. I got fed up with SLI support and went back to 1 card, a LOT of game have none, or sketchy SLI support on day 1 release anymore. If you play brand new games the second they release, beware. And some games just flat-out never support it (ID games are notorious for this, RAGE and Wolfenstein still don't support SLI)

980 Ti bros. Not 980. And now I'm reading that it won't be out til 20fucking16? I'm just spit balling. ATM (this changes by the minute obviously as I'm reading) I'd probably just get a second 780 Ti if needed if I can find one on the cheap.

Thanks for looking out for a brotha.

Edit: Wait, now that I re-read joeboo's post, I'm confused. I currently have a 780 Ti and would UPGRADE to a 980 or 980 Ti. Did I miss something? Or did joeboo make a minor mistake? joe the link I posted to pcpartpicker is my CURRENT build that I have right now.

I thought exactly what joeboo thought, that your first link was what you were going to build.

Ah yeah, didn't realize that you already owned a 780Ti, thought you were planning on buying one new

Ha, nah I built this current rig right when the Devil's Canyon CPUs came out. Already had the GPU/PSU and couple other parts.

Then you should buy 3 of them. :p
Ha, I thought about it for a brief moment. But I really only need a gaming monitor for my main screen. My right monitor is my movie/web browsing/secondary monitor and my left monitor is almost strictly for Pidgin (Aim/Google Talk), Skype, Steam Friends, Mumble/Vent/TS/etc, basically chatting/messaging. I'm looking forward to using my larger dell as my movie/web monitor but the left monitor... meh. I have super shitty monitor there now and it suits me just fine.

Plus, I gotta buy a damn house soon. Thanks Obama.

So - what is the best upcoming 4k ips 60hz monitor? Or am i better off going 34" 21:9 1440p and, if so, whats the best upcoming one of those? 70% productivity, 30% gaming.

I'm not sure how graphics intensive Arma 3 (Battle Royale) is, but, itmeJP on twitch has a top-of-the-line computer (without SLI) and gets about 25-30fps. He had to turn it down to 1080p. Again, I do NOT know how hard Arma 3 is on the graphics card...just kind of shocking.

edit: I guess he does have SLI:

4x MSAA is derp for these tests. Not sure why they would bother. Then again, I'd assume the performance decrease isn't really all that bad, maybe a couple FPS?

The streaming is cutting down some of his FPS.

It's a shame though because nVidia have basically said new cards are not coming until 2016. 4k gaming seems to be an eternity away.

I have no idea because I've never played anything at 4K, but does it currently even look much better than 1440p or 1600p? I wouldn't think that too many games have built-in high-res textures to really take advantage of that 4K resolution. Sure, the resolution may state 3840x2160 or whatever, but you're still using textures designed to mostly look good at 1080p resolutions.

Heads up for anyone with a Bank of America rewards credit card. One of the current rewards is 20% off at Tigerdirect.com until Feb 1st, limit of $600. Still though, could get 20% off of a nice new video card, or SSD. Not a bad deal. You do have to go in to your online banking and "activate" the reward though. You can choose 2 or 3 out of the 10 rewards offers in any given month.

Wish I hadn't just bought a new SSD 2 weeks ago, could have got it for 20% off...DOH

Return / re-buy... but I suppose that would be a pain in the ass if you already have installed everything on it.
