Tried the heroic weekly last night at lvl 21... Holy fuck. It's pretty painful - dregs can kill you with one/two shots and their little sticky grenades.

The daily story mission wasn't bad though. Truth be told, I had more fun last night doing 20+ content than I have had the entire time leveling to 20, so they have that going for them.

Every time I get to a new planet I have to stop and admire the view. Even the jaggy graphics of the PS3 this game is gorgeous. This would look insane on a gaming PC.

Think Venus is probably my favorite visually. The rest of the environments suffer from 'too brown' syndrome.

Heres a small guide on resource gathering, I have to do this to upgrade my legendarys.

What are Relic Iron?

In Destiny, RELIC IRON ROUNDS is a Round Upgrade that can be found on Rare and Legendary Weapons except Rocket Launchers. Weapons in Destiny pull each Upgrade at random from specific pools (with a few Weapons that are an exception). They are Planetary Materials are so named because they exist on the planets in the solar system.

Patrol activities on each planet are ideal for exploring and gathering Materials. You can search the planet at your leisure, gathering raw Materials in the wild and looting chests to find more.

Spinmetal is usually found near old human structures, Helium Filaments near buildings on the Moon, Spirit Bloom near plants and overgrown areas, and Relic Iron near Cabal structures.

Can't say i agree with you. An equally proficient controller user vs. keyboard/mouse user the controller user will get roflstomped every single time. This is the main reason xim is so popular on consoles it obviously gives a HUGE advantage over anyone else using a controller. Heck I will even argue that even a mediocre keyboard/mouse user would destroy a proficient controller user the majority of the time. So with that said I also have to agree that this is why i also won't touch the pvp in this game. Just knowing that there are xim users out there "and i'm betting there are more than you believe" pretty much kills the fun of even bothering with it in the first place. Even having just one person on the other team using a xim means the difference between a fair fight and just totally getting destroyed every game. No thanks.
Having used the XIM4 exclusively now since launch (and having used the controller exclusively during the Alpha/Beta) I think they advantages may be abitoverstated. I would say that at medium range there is practically zero advantage with all of the auto aim in the game (yes I finally noticed it!) You can dodge, move, sprint, turn and jump all you want but you are still going to bite the bullet from their pulse or auto rifle.

Where there are clear advantages are long distance sniping and direct overhead/ looking down shots. The overhead one seems to be the biggest advantage since the look up vertical movement is so slow on the controller but I haven't found that it occurs all that often. Mostly because standing up high above everyone makes you an easy target for anyone who is not directly below you. A VERY easy target. Also jumping while in medium range to get over someone for an advantage has gotten me killed far faster then if I just tried dodging around a corner. The AA loves tracking airborne targets at medium range.

The sniping thing is a real advantage but unless there are quite a few more XIM users out there then I first thought then it is just as possible to snipe with a controller. I admit I was never good with long distance sniping with a controller. I also admit that I have been able to get headshots with a pistol far more often with the XIM then I did before (about 4x as often IMHO) but a pistol headshot is not an instant kill in PvP at least not where level/gear advantages have been disabled. I notice it still takes me 2-3 headshots to kill someone and in a straight up match against someone with an auto rifle I win about 65% of the time but I have to hit every shot.

Now if when Iron Banner is up and level/gear matters if my pistol one hit kills people then yes I will be OP as fuck. Seriously in PvE right now nothing is more powerful then my lvl 17 blue pistol. Blue AR? Nope. Blue Skip jacket Pulse Rifle? Fuck no. Blue Full Auto Pulse Rifle? Hahahaha You wish. Headshots all day long. I'm limited only by my reload speed. I consistently score top in kills as a Titan in Defender spec.

I also find it is MUCH easier to survive using a KB/M since better control over my movement allows me to get away from bad shit easier/faster then controller users. Titan works really well for this since I am often reviving my team.

Sorry man, haven't been keeping up closely with the thread. Has this been thoroughly discussed?
Not really, people keep saying the same thing. The 500 million is the overall investment into the franchise for marketing and other things. This amount is basically a budget for the life of the games marketing which is a ten year span and that number might not actually included the actual cost of developing the game. Basically Kotik threw out the 500 million figure with no context and explanation and people ran with it.

Also, finally getting a shader really improves your characters aesthetic - went from space hobo to green machine in seconds.

I think that 500 million also pays for the last 4 years of development as well. But again, there's no context for it. It's basically a buzz phrase

thank god enemies can't attack dinklage-bot whenever he has to do some shit, can you imagine the tears and rage if he could die and that failed a mission

how do you get strange coins, is it a level 20 pvp thing? for winning a match, just playing, or random token assigned at end?

Shaders are sweet, just makes me wish they included a full customization option. Also I'm down for any heroic strikes this weekend.

Interestingly I was thinking about this and noted on launch day that I had all the emblems but neither of the shaders. I double checked my code listing on the website and they show as active...but no where to be found.
