I love reading all the responses on how people are taking days off and resting for this expansion. I do not even begin to understand what the rush is. In Everquest, the rush was to get out of the newbie areas and into the other premium camps as to be able to level as efficiently as possible. Also being in certain camps came with the advantage of getting certain rare items. This is something I understood, even if it was a little bit hardcore for me. I do not understand the deal with being first on and all that for this game. I actually want to take my time and enjoy the game. I could care less if somebody is Paragon 1,000,000 and finds the Vorpal weapon of badassness. Diablo 3 is just above being a single player game. Shutting down the AH pretty much killed any reason to go super fast.
Bro I need to have my shinies before my friends do, if not I'll have to commit seppuku.

FYI, 2H weapons at 70 are still worse than 2 1H weapons.. just the gap is much closer than it is now. Losing an extra socket is pretty devastating though.

Wait, you can create a crusader now and start leveling it? Did I read that or did I make that up?

Can someone explain what the new Adventure mode is and how gameplay is different than replaying the acts on higher difficulty ratings?

They fixed the bug. The DPS being lower isn't a bug, it's just a result of them removing anything ilvl 60+ because of RoS extending the level cap to 70. It might also be them flattening the difference between the 2, it's hard to tell since we don't really get the same ilvl legendaries atm and a lot of the 2H categories are 1 to 4levels lower than 1H which can be up to 200DPS difference on the base item. They might have also nerfed 2H damage in comparison to 1H, but that's not the result of a bug either.
What exactly are you saying changed then? The drops I've seen people get this past week are just as terrible as the drops they got before 2.0.3. They're still rolling with the same damage range as a 1H.

Or maybe I just don't see the difference between 'bug' and 'utterly retarded design decision'...

Everything is alive, all waypoints are active, there's no quests. You can skip around and kill whatever you want in any act.

One of the monk dudes posted that at 70, after all is said and done, DW with 2 sockets and 110% crit damage gems still beat out 2handers with 1 socket and 110% CD gem. The difference, he said, was something like 4.9% dps. Fairly reasonable, but still with loss of attack speed/legendary procs it's still making 2handers look pretty shitty except maybe for large damage cooldowns like seven sided strikes. They really need to give them some awesome legendary affixes to make it worthwhile. That or just give 2handers an extra affix or two and let them roll crit and/or crit damage.

There were two issues, as I understand it. The current issue with 2h is that when the patch hit, there were no more ilvl60+ items dropping, which means even though they "fixed" the damage rolls for 2h, they are still rolling lower stats due to lower ilvl. Starting today with the expac, we can start looting higher ilvl 2h, which should get us back on track (I hope).

*edit* I realize this doesn't fully explain why the same ilvl 1h are rolling so well compared to 2h - I have no answers there.

I play mostly with my guildies and RL friends and its pretty fun to all be in mumble laughing and playing Diablo all night. We've been looking forward to taking time off for this and FFXIV raids being released this week.

I have a most likely incorrect perception of a lot of gamers here also. When people post they had to decide on or on how it was a big decision to buy the expac I think to myself is everyone really young, broke, or cheap here?

Yes, kind of, no. One of the reasons is there's about 10 different games depending on your gaming spectrum that are all coming out within a 60 day window. Titanfall, Infamous 2, Dark Souls 2, ESO, D3 RoS, Wildstar Pre-Orders, etc, etc. If you bought all of those you're looking at $340 bucks or so. That's a fair amount of change.

Cheap. Really easy to get buyer's remorse when you don't get a physical product.

Not saying that for myself and this specific product. Gonna get tons of hours out of my $25(thank you RMAH).

I had buyer's remorse for the original D3, but I made a couple hundred on the RMAH and figured it paid for itself and the expansion, so whatever.

Adventure mode is when majority of the story-driven elements have been removed and all waypoints are unlocked. Let's you explore the world however you want it. In other words you have more freedom.

Well yeah there might be a retarded design decision behind it, but it's not a bug bug. The bug was you know how weapons roll +x-y damage, well that affix was bugged and on 2H would roll with the 1H, limiting the damage by about 100-150 or whatever. That boosted 2H DPS slightly, IF you rolled in the higher end, but not that much. That's the bug there was and that they fixed. But there shouldn't be a bug left with 2H weapons, they roll what they're supposed to, which arguably is too low. I said before though it might very well be because of crusader being able to 2H with a shield, so they wanted to keep 2H DPS close to 1H.

They should simply add a bonus to using a 2H without a shield, similar to the bonus for DW, say +130% crit dmg or whatever the highest emerald bonus is in ros. Then even if the DPS is similar, there's a point since you don't lose out on crit dmg and you trade the higher procs, life on hit and DW 15% for much superior per hit damage and slower attacks(which is useful for channeled skills) which would even out for specific builds. Probably still might even with the shitty 2H DPS, but only for specific builds.

Believe me, if I had friends taking time off work to grind this shit out, or bothered to join voice chat (yeah right I'll never get invited), or whatever else, I would take off work in a heartbeat and go nuts with you guys.

I just don't have that with this release. My friends who do play video games are Xbros.

As for why it took me so long to decide on the expansion, I got bored with Diablo 3 very easily (and ARPGs in general, probably) so that's why I was so hesitant. And with a new(ish) baby and new(ish) house, yeah I do feel broke right now

So basically like D2 was. Like everyone wanted the game to be. Like anyone with 1% of a brain would make the game. ???
