I'll be your friend, Falstaff. But I'm in the same boat. New house, new kid, new job, so no taking time off. Also, I still have a stand mic, so no voice chat.

Adventure mode is when majority of the story-driven elements have been removed and all waypoints are unlocked. Let's you explore the world however you want it. In other words you have more freedom.
I guess I don't understand what the benefit is. Once you get to 70 and complete Act 5, then the focus becomes getting level 70 legendary loot so that you can defeat the game at Torment levels. Correct me if I'm wrong but the chances of a chest or mob dropping legendary loot is the same regardless of which act you are in. If that's the case, then whether you do the quests in order by act or hop around from one act/quest to a different one makes no difference on loot drops.

Lastly, since completing quests give EXP points and you still need those for paragon points, wouldn't playing in campaign mode still be the smart thing to do?

Quests require you to complete certain objectives, generally moving from point to point, which tends to be inefficient in a lot of cases(like when you have to find the entrance of a dungeon or the exit of a dungeon).

Adventure mode also has bounties now, which are basically repeatable quests, so there's not much reason in doing campaign other than the guaranteed legendary on malthael(or diablo if you don't buy ros but then no adventure mode anyway).

The point of being able to move between acts is mostly for farming specific areas in a row without having to reset the game right away. Say you like cathedral and keep, you can do both for each reset of the game, vs leaving the game, changing your story step, entering game, clearing 2nd area, leaving, changing story step etc. We talked about it earlier too but it's great for farming keywardens too, since there's 1 in each act.

We are already friends!

I still feel awkward about randomly joining someone's game without asking.

I said before though it might very well be because of crusader being able to 2H with a shield, so they wanted to keep 2H DPS close to 1H.
They have to give up a passive and 15% movement speed (on a character which already appears to have the worst mobility of any class, or at best tied with WD) though so it seems a bit outlandish to gimp 2H for everyone just because of Crusaders.

OK I can see the benefit now. Thanks for the explanation.

I just got the game last week and dinged 60 on my first character this past weekend. I have no idea what these key wardens are that you mentioned.

Also, if Diablo and Malthael are guaranteed to drop a legendary, why don't people just keep repeating those quests?

One more question. What are the nephalem rifts?

Diablo will only be a guaranteed legendary until RoS goes live, and its not just Diablo..you need to Reset Quests to start over from the very first quest in act 1 to get the guaranteed leg from Diablo. this will change to Malthael tonight

As for features unlocking with the expac, there's level 70, adventure mode, rifts, crusader, act 5, enchanter, transmogrification. Anything else new unlocking?

So in order to farm Malthael it will reset it from the beginning or Act 1 or Act 5? If it's act 5 then that not bad but starting from act 1 thats going to suck.

Act 1.

It's just another option on how to farm. Some people will do a specific route, others will do the whole game with a guaranteed legendary drop at the very end (and more than likely a few on the way to the end)

TBH, you might be better off going to a fan site like diablofans or some youtuber's site to get a general review of the expac. I don't say this be an asshole, but most of the users here have a lot of this committed to memory that we might make assumptions on what you do and don't know and something might be glossed over. Also, you might find some information you wouldn't have thought to ask about.

Oh fuck that. I can farm for a an hour or two hours and get a drop rather than running through the whole damn game for one.

Yep you have to reset quests which resets all your progress so you have to reclear the game entirely. And as pointed out, diablo does for now or if you don't buy RoS, otherwise it's malthael, so one legendary per clear.

Keywardens drop keys that are used to spawn the ubers to make hellfire rings. They're specific purple named mobs in certain zones in each act that always spawn and drop keys in torment at max level, generally you'd farm one over and over, then change act, farm the other and so on, but now you can farm all 4 in a row then reset, which is a bit less boring.

Rifts are opened via large bounty bag rewards, you give them to a npc who opens a portal in act5 town. Inside a rift, there's a bunch of monsters and killing enough to fill the progress bar will spawn a boss, which when defeated gives a bunch of loot. The kinda interesting part is rifts have randomized everything, from tileset(desert, fort, hell, heaven etc) to time of the day(think like the oasis or the tristram early areas for night time) and obviously randomized monsters, so you see weird combos of annoying mobs and shit. They also have their own shrines which are OP as fuck but only lasts for very short amount of time.

Mind you, RoS isn't like an entirely different beast or a super big evolution, it's still mostly diablo and you'll still mostly do what you were doing before, with a few changes. It's still about farming items so you can farm items faster to farm items.

Just to quibble this a bit, it will switch to Malthael when you ding 61. So park your character at the kill Diablo quest then wait for the game to go live if you want maximum pointless legendaries.
