Yeah I asked about the expansion a few pages back. My only hope is the expansion is going to be huge that's why it hasn't been announced but that's probably bullshit. You are right I can't believe how much money they make on these games and don't put them back into the game. Guild wars 2 is now releasing content every 2 weeks and yet WoW and D3 making millions more then GW 2 barely releases shit.

They need to at least announce something. I am casual and yet I am now paragon 90. I did successfully sell that necklace for 1 Billion though. Most expensive item I have sold to date, if that gives a person an idea how rare the really good loot can be. I have crafted about 250 Necklaces and so far have only gottten a 10 to crit 90 to crit damage. Goddamn Minimum damage roll ruined what could have been a pretty awesome trifecta. I figure I am just playing this game now to finish up my barbarian. I would like him to be Paragon 100 with close to 300k base DPS. When whatever does hit, I will have one character ready for it.

They need to take a long look at the PoE skill map before releasing an expension. Am not saying copying it, but anything else than the watered down bullshit D3 have right now.

And items... drop the WoW loot for fuck sake.

To be honest all though blizzard still sells millions its reputation has really been tarnished with core gamers over the last few years. You let that slip to far and you can never get that good rep back. Blizzard isn't the core gamers sweetheart anymore d3 drove the nail in the coffin on that. At the time they tried to assure us that activision would have no creative impact on blizzard but thats when everything seem to go fucken side ways for blizzard.

The 'Kotick not affecting Blizzard' propaganda line is such utter nonsense. EVERY company that undergoes a merger, acquisition, etc always says the same shit, and it's a lie every time.

People WANTED to believe it though, they wanted to think their beloved games from youth would be untouchable to the business heads. It wasn't that people didn't KNOW this happens but that they wanted to believe that their youth wouldn't be bent over.

Bobby Kotick didn't turn all their story telling into LoL Corruption!!!! though. That's one thing that all their games have done in the last few years and it's turd water.

I'm not going to try and argue Kotick and Activision hasn't affected Blizzard, but they can't take all the blame. It's not like Blizzard is sitting there with their hands tied. Jay Wilson didn't say "oh yeah D3 real money auction house was a mistake, damn you Kotick for giving us the idea."

The devs at Blizzard long ago put on their money hats and didn't look back, they are ultimately responsible.

I hardly think anyone that wanted a job anywhere else would be like "Oh by the way guys Activision totally ass-fucks us now and controls how we create games" No company wants a potential whistle blower in their midst.

I mean lookhttp://kotaku.com/microtransactions-...appe-677220971WOW a Subscription MMO is going to have Micro transactiosns AS WELL. It will start with tiny things and eventually you will be paying 15 bucks a month plus another 10 just to be competetive in raiding/PvP. I'm nearly at the point of no return with Blizzard and I used to think they were the benchmark in the gaming industry. Now... They are turning into EA. Controlling markets. Action RPG Strategy and MMO and squeezing every fucking dime out of us without giving us anything in return.

Jay would never say that if that was the truth. Shit talking your boss is a great way to get fired.
Of course you are right, but the point was that a lot of the (bad) design decisions Blizzard has been making lately can be laid squarely on their shoulders, not an outside influence.

I'm absolutely shocked there isn't DLC and microtransaction consumables in D3 already. XP potions would actually make sense in that game outside of hardcore.

I foolishly give the game half a chance every few months just because I still can't believe how much of a disappointment it was, and every time I'm stunned at how poorly they did. They got the mechanics right and then completely failed to actually create some kind of purpose for the game. I'm not talking about MMORPG-like purpose, either; just a reason for playing that extends a little beyond the act of playing itself. You play to get gear and then... nothing. No real PvP, no ladder, no endgame, no meaningful multiplayer, no competition of any kind. There's just no goal in sight other than maybe getting paragon level 100, which is just a brainless grind that happens automatically and can't be considered a challenge in any way. You just kill monsters to get better gear so you can kill monsters faster. It completely lacks the final piece of the puzzle, the thing that makes a game take the step from being merely a set of mechanics to actually becoming a game. If they don't at least implement ladder seasons in the expansion, I'll have to believe that they've made a conscious decision to refrain from making the game good. It must be a little depressing for those of their older generation of developers who still do care about making good games rather than just milking the cash cow and trying to get away with doing as little as possible.

So basically your one gripe with D3 is the lack of a ladder?

He has a point. Every time I ask myself why people play D3 I can't come up with an answer.

I've asked my two friends who play this game a lot why they keep playing.

My one friend said... "for keys". Well, ok.

So... I asked "why".

"I don't know what else is there to do?"

The other friend just loves playing the game. He doesn't give a fuck about drops and to be honest he can do mp10 anyways so I don't think gear really matters to him. Considering gold is so fucking cheap who really gives a shit anyways?

I've come to the conclusion that the RMAH destroyed diablo. When I can go buy 1,000,000,000 gold for $25 then who really gives a fuck about what item drops? I'll just go buy it with my lunch money. I'm playing because I enjoy the game and also I don't use real money to buy items so I have somewhat of a reason to grind out some drops. No clue how long this game will entertain me for. I had 245 hours on my DH before I quit him. I'm up to 25 hours on the barb and already in MP6 grinding with 200k dps. When I hit mp10 and / or 400k dps I'll probably quit again until expansion.
