Is there a fire based version of heaven's fury? Because cluster arrow costs 40 hatred and people can fire like 20 of dem bitches w/ 175 hatred and the right gear. Started a crusader yesterday and the resource regeneration of wrath/hatred seemed similar.
No and that's another issue I think with Crusaders, they have SHIT for elemental builds. Basically, if you don't build holy, you have very very limited choices. Bombardment? 5physical runes(yeah even though it's a fucking burning rock). Heaven's Fury? All fucking holy, even though Fist of the Heaven's which is kinda similar thematically is mostly lightning. Condemn? All holy, even though physical or fire would make perfect sense there. Phalanx? All physical, what fucking summoned ghosts can't be elemental damage? Smite? All holy. Punish? All physical but one which is fire, for some reason no holy even though a lot of the shield spenders are holy. Shit's fucking stupid. And then you have cold. There are TWO fucking cold skills, both are spenders, no builder, no cooldown. Result is you smart loot drop fucking cold % gear, even though you're never ever going to do a cold build because there's only these 2 skills(and they're both fairly shit).
It's very frustrating, the only sort of general build you can make is holy stuff, but if you want to do holy shield block based shit, you're out of luck on your builder since punish doesn't have a holy rune. Physical too I guess, kinda, but then you're gonna be lacking on cooldowns, I guess falling sword and bombardment and phalanx, so a Lord Commander build. Fire and Lightning builds can also be done, but you'll pretty much have to use non elemental stuff in them because there's simply not enough fire/lightning cooldowns, most of them being holy or physical.
On the DH ressource comparison, you can rely on better "outside" generation as a DH, specifically Blood Vengeance which gives 30hatred per health globes(granted there's bracers for that, but need the malthael bugged material and it's bracers so you need a really good roll on them to not lose out) and most importantly Preparation Punishment, which more or less doubles your hatred regeneration by letting you also convert your discipline into hatred(regens slower but you convert at almost a 1:4 rate) especially when combined with Nightstalker and/or Blood Vengeance again(or bracers which I believe also refill disc, but not sure). And obviously in the case of Cluster, there's Cindercoat which is a 30% reduction, plus Helm of Pride works a lot better as a DH who stays away from shit than as a Crusader who tends to run into the shit or slowly walk out of it.
Also have to remember that fundamentally, crusader hit less often than DH. Even when not using a 2H, you still don't have a quiver/dual wielding, and while you can run law of valor, that's a specific slot to get half the bonus speed of dual wielding(and a third of a good quiver). Another difference is the DH special case of generating hatred even if you don't hit anything. Which is very useful at times.
Finally spenders are mostly unimpressive shit. I think Heaven's Fury Fires of Heaven is one of the better ones, because it banks on the burst of crusaders and the guaranteed crit from Judgement Resolved makes it very wrath efficient, but by using Heaven's Fury as your spender, it means you give up one of the better cooldowns. Falling Sword is the same damage on 30secs cd, Bombardment is better damage but on 60secs cooldown or 40 if you use a passive, Phallanx cooldown runes are inferior due to the lack of aoe they offer(they're equal/superior for single target though).
The class biggest issue is still movement though. Steed should be 15secs cooldown at most and Heavenly Strength shouldn't hurt your mobility that much/at all(a downside for equipping much better weapons is alright though, but it should be something else). Ressource management is annoying and should probably be fixed too(bump wrath generators to 6 wrath per hit, 10 with the passive, probably helps a lot, also taunt needs to generate a fuckton more wrath, and so does zealous glare because they don't fucking do shit against single strong opponents like extra health high health elites or rift bosses) and some work on elemental alignement and the spenders in general should be done, but it's not that bad in comparison to moving slow as shit all the time.
Oh on the DH and Crusader comparison, one fun fact. DH have had "hammers" since a long time, Razor Disk chakram. Only that it's chakrams obviously, and you can select where they start rotating from, they go in a straight line to the spot(hurting mobs on the way) then rotate a lot faster. They cost 10hatred like hammers. The joke though? They do 380%weapon damage. Hammers do 240% WITH a passive, 200% otherwise. This feels so weird. Hammers rotate for longer so they're more efficient if you're getting swarmed(cursed chests events for example at which hammers excel), but most trash is going to die in 2-3 casts anyway so then they rotate for nothing, and like chakrams, they can only hit once per cast per mob.
The spenders in general don't feel they do the damage they should considering their cost and area of effect. Shield Bash does good damage but the aoe is so poor(even with the aoe runes) it probably should do 20-25% more damage. Blessed Shield has a limited amount of targets per cast, a small amount too(think 3 or 4 don't wanna check), and doesn't do nearly enough damage considering. Fist of Heaven's does absolute trash damage with the only redeeming feature is that it leaves ground aoes, which do not stack.
