Well that sword does drop in Whimsyshire! I'm thinking of doing a rainbow color outfit but we'll see.

Thanks to Hatemonkey, not sure what's your Rerolled forum name on giving me his Shard of Hate drop. Rerolled the strength to dexterity. Now I just need a Thunderfury for my lightning build.

Big loot changes coming:Upcoming Loot Hotfixes - Forums - Diablo III

Basically, they're nerfing Uniques droprate(manglemaw and such, purple names mobs that spawn all the time due to being quest related) and reducing the amount of chests per map by I assume a fairly large amount(probably go from 3-4chests in each larger maps to 1-2). On the other hand, they're boosting the legendary droprate in rifts to 100% bonus(from 25%) and increasing "significantly" kadala's legendary droprates, again. Sounds pretty good to me.

A series of hotfixes will be deployed today making more adjustments to overall reward structures within the game. I wanted to take a minute to explain the reasons for the changes that we are making. A driving goal of our design has been to make killing monsters feel rewarding, we want you all to find tons of cool items that you are excited about but more importantly we want you to have fun while doing it.

Rifts have always been intended to be the most efficient play method in the game, currently they aren't for a number of reasons. Part of this has to do with the high level of efficiency in farming that players find doing things like farming Manglemaw, Razorclaw and any other number of unique monsters. Another contributing element is that farming chests without having to actually fight monsters is far more effective than actually fighting the monsters. It is very important to us that chests are exciting to find and feel rewarding but presently they are far too common and reliable to farm in certain areas of the game.

Finally Kadala, she has always been intended to give players some degree of control over their item upgrades. While we don't want players to simply pick and choose from a list of items at an excessively high cost, we do want you to have an answer to the question "How do I upgrade my boots?". Kadala is meant to be that answer, she is meant to give you some direct control over the types of items you find. Since we are increasing the overall reward structure of the game she is also going to be increasing but by a larger amount than the rest of the changes since she didn't feel rewarding enough to us.

Without further delay here is a list of the changes that will be coming in the hotfix.

The Bad!
Unique monsters now drop less items.
*Uniques were dropping far more loot than their difficulty would warrant.

Chest spawns have been thinned out across all acts of the game.
*Ideally chests become less common and something that players can't flip games to farm. It is our goal to make them feel exciting and rewarding when you find them.

The Good!
The bonus legendary drop rate for rifts is being increased from 25% to 100%!
*This means that while in a rift your chance to find a legendary item from monsters, chests, elites, and everything else is double what it is outside of rifts. No this does not mean opening bounty bags in rifts is the new hotness. ;P

Kadala's legendary drop rate has been significantly increased.
*Blood Shards are meant to be a compelling element of rift rewards and something players are excited to get.

Loot is an incredibly important aspect of Diablo games and we will continue to keep a very close eye on it. If more problems arise we will continue striving to address them. It isn't our goal to take loot away from people, we just want to make sure they are having as much fun as possible while finding it and these changes all support that goal.

Good hunting and link the loot!

Hatemonkey is a true bro. He ever find his legs? Ran quite a few rifts with him, where that's all he needed.

As of 40 minutes ago, they said they didn't have an ETA.

They did add this later, though:

Rift Bosses do not count as Uniques, so they will be not be affected by the hotfix to Unique drops. They will, however, be affected by the hotfix that will boost your chance to find Legendary items by 100% (up from 25%) while in Rifts.

Note that the 100% bonus to Legendary drops in Nephalem Rifts is multiplicative and will actually stack with the scaling Legendary drop rate bonus in Torment 1-6 (which in turn boosts your chance to find Legendary items by 15% per slider tick, also multiplicatively) .

Thunderfury doesn't benefit from +lightning dmg, unfortunately. Shard of Hate, however, does proc on every activation (re: every 'attack') of lightning skills. And that is why lightning is number one. Until they give SoH an ICD or something, it'll be lightning >>>>.. though the cold tempest rush rune might be hilarious with a SoH as well.

I'm a fire monk as well and I have something like 35mil eDPS on short fights (sub 500 mil). So I'm not knocking it, but there's just a ton of good +lightning gear out there that synergizes with the skills you can use to proc SoH.
Fire is tops for theoretical dps but I can't endorse a fire build long term because it lacks control. Lightning gets a cheap CS and cheap cone stun. Holy gets an expensive stun, but it's practically guaranteed and it's long and hits everything. I see being able to stun enemies crucial to playing a melee in higher torment. Only real thing I don't like about lightning is the knock up on deadly reach. It's nice because it means mobs aren't beating on you. But I can't tell you how many times I still derp my CS while mobs are in the air. So annoying.

I like the hotfix. My only quibble is that this will make farming for legendary tradeskill drops less attractive in comparison. You know, the ones they just reduced the components of.

Phalanx archers kind of blow in T2+ lol, i mean its a nice bump but they only hit for 1.5m which isn't great, and isn't awful. I'd rather just keep akarats champion on my bar

They need to add that hotfix sooner rather than later. I'm starting to get bored by the complete lack of upgrades i've found over the past few days. Which is sad because my shit isn't even that great.

1.5m but there's 4 archers and they hit like 8times each. That's quite a large burst. I find akarat to be pretty much trash myself unless you have the shrine buff(and so the shrine gloves and get lucky to keep finding the right shrines before last one wears off). If you don't have at least 50%cdr it seems terrible, 90secs cd for a 20secs buff that doesn't even increase shit all that much, meh. If you have 6pc akkan or the shrine cdr buff though it becomes pretty solid.

I guess the fact you run 3beams flail does affect your choices though, I assume you run akarat with the cost reduction rune? 50% reduction for 20secs is a huge deal with that super high wrath cost on FoH.

That would be from the Law of Valor rune, which i do run. I don't think AC has that, usually I just do rally for the sake of getting the valor rune cooldown reduction so i can get the 50% reduced wrath cost a bit faster

Yeah my bad I'm thinking of Akkan 4pc bonus, which reduces costs by 50% for the duration, it's not a rune. I know about the law since I was using that(and long arm of the law) when I was playing FoH. Switched back to nephalem law though, especially since they made it easier to sustain neph3 buff since now health globes increase the duration even at 3(before they'd increase the duration at 1 and 2 and eventually bump it to next tier, but once at 3 it wouldn't increase duration anymore so you needed to find another nephalem orb to refresh it, now you can extend it plenty with just health globes). Still Akarat helps wrath quite a lot I guess with doubling all generation but yeah no reduction on it.

I still feel it's pretty lacking compared to Wrath of the Berserker, Voodoo Totem, Vengeance or Epiphany though, it just doesn't do a whole lot when it's active to warrant a 90secs cd. Especially when you compare to Epiphany which is 60secs cooldown and is way way fucking better. I feel it's only worth it with the crusader set bonuses or if you can get around 50% uptime.

Well not getting the class sets is a pretty big deal. Not so much when farming bounty bags for specific cache legendaries obviously but when all your legendaries are dropped, you kinda want to do them on torment1 at least. Also you lose out on the double blood shards, which is a large amount per rift, which they're buffing again so a pretty good chance at more legendaries, granted you get double blood shards at expert or some shit so you wouldn't need to go all the way up to torment1.
