From what I can gather, it isn't true. And strangely enough, this isn't the first time Tom Baker's death has been a hoax - happened back in the early 80's too, apparently.

A) The crossing his own timeline thing isn't as big a deal as some are making it out to be. This all took place in the TARDIS, for one. We have no reason to think that paradoxes can't happen inside the TARDIS, particularly "time echoes" created by the TARDIS('s exploding engine) itself. So I'm pretty confident in saying that part is a non-issue. Secondly, even if it was going to fuck up Time, I'm fairly certain the Doctor would cross his own timeline if NOT doing so would cause his death and the destruction of the TARDIS. Worse things would happen if he wasn't around, and he can always try to fix the fuckups later.

B) Clara. That bitch. There's something about her that's off-putting. Can't put my finger on it, but as much as I like to look at her, I feel like she's pretending to be something she's not, a lot of the time. Maybe I'm biased, I dunno. Anyhoo, I think it may end up being really important that she found out the Doctor's name. I know, I know, "that timeline stopped exsisting, dipshit". Well, yeah...and no. Mostly yeah, but that message/button that got tossed through is a piece of that other timeline, and that's probably all Moffet needs to make a connection. I wouldn't be surprised if she starts having visions, or premonitions, or dreams of some sort soon. And on the plains of whatsits where the truth must be told, I bet SHE will provide the answer to she question. The Doctor will probably arrive on the plain, and be like "fuck that, I know what's supposed to happen here. Clara, go check that shit out" and she will and OOPS she knows his name. That's all theory anyways. Honestly, as much as it would be awesome to know the Doctor's name, a huge part of me is resistant. I don't WANT to know. It really IS the central question of the entire series, it's the name of the show, and was before anyone had made a joke of it like it is now. (Doctor what? that will do -bleh). Besides, I still think the Doctor is the Other, and Omega should be the end-all 50th anniversary baddie. Buuut I'm a bit of a nut like that. I know it wasn't me Jait was talking about on the old boards, but I HAVE watched all 800+ episodes, and a handful of the books so....yeah.

I don't want to know the Doctor's name either. It all seems gimmicky at this point. His name is "Theet" as far as I'm concerned, short for Theta Sigma. Always made sense that Time Lords had alpha-numeric names or Greek names like Theta Sigma which btw River Song has used TWICE in the TV show once on the mountain at the beginning of time (Big Bang) and on the cube sphere thingy in the Angels episode. OE being the Greek symbols for Theta Sigma. The Meddling Monk called him by this name in the TV show and much much later The Master indicated he changed his name (with the Deca I assume) in the Medusa Cascade by being the one who "Made people better". An ironic name considering each of the Deca with one or two exceptions went on to be villains.

Crimson Horror looked more like a pilot to give Strax, Vastra, and Jenny their own spin off than a real Doctor Who episode.

I really wouldn't mind to be honest. I think they're fun. The scene with the horse cracked me up, and Jenny is growing on me.

Dying for some sort of lore after this episode, it really left me wanting. I found this on the interwebs. Gave me a boner. Pretty big 50th anniversary spoiler and possibly the Doctor's true name. At least I think I know who John Hurt is playing.

You're warned....

Honestly it wouldn't surprise me if his name was Prometheus or something along those lines, considering his attachment to Earth/Humans.

I'm sorry but I'm well beyond the point where Clara is just ruining the show for me now. The perpetual smug expression and very poor writing around almost everything to do with her just kills it. I'm not sure if its the actress or just Moffat-itis.

There have been some decent ideas knocking around this season, looking back I enjoyed the "haunted house" episode more than I appreciated at the time. I'll keep going for now because I really want to see if he can redeem himself with the explanation and what might be coming in the 50th but after running River Song into the ground and turning the Statue of Liberty into a Weeping Angel I'm not optimistic...

Someone please, tell me how wrong I am and what I'm missing >.<

No, I'm getting weary of Clara too. I almost skipped all of JTCoTT and Sweetville this week just because the actors just looked bored. Next week is the Cybermen, so my interest is piqued again but still, this better be a huge gdamn payoff of epic proportions ala Season 5 or I'm out as well.

That would make a kind of sense, but I always thought it was just the first name Susan saw after the TARDIS first appeared. But it COULD true, I suppose. Also, they've said....
David Bradley (Finch from Harry Potter + a billion things) is playing the first doctor. John Hurt is supposed to be a version of the 8th or 9th doctor that didn't escape the Time War. There's a promo image on io9 somewhere showing Bradley as William Hartnell.

Oh dear christ, the following link has some spoilers from the official Doctor Who mag for the end of season finalehttp://doctorwhotv.co.uk/the-name-of...ails-48574.htm

Post-library River? Oh just fuck off, the one thing that was still pretty cool about her character was the whole Doctor/River backwards/forwards thing and we know she dies but Moffat can't even resist fucking that up.

As for the 50th
there are rumours gathering steam that Hurt is playing a hitherto unknown Doctor regeneration between McGann and Ecclestone who fought the time war and had his entire memory wiped of that regeneration due to what occurred. Sounds like nonsense and would require hirtho world record levels of hand waving but they've already rebooted the universe a couple of times in recent years so why not?!

As for the after the 50th, Moffat said "possibly future episodes" after they've finished this years Christmas episode...

Oh yeah, as regards his motivation for writing the 50th show like hs is doing...
Citing an earlier quote from Steven Moffat: "It is important you don't turn it into a fanfest. We can't make this all about looking backwards. It's actually got to be the start of a new story."
/facepalm

Surely a 50th anniversary episode is ENTIRELY about a fucking fanfest type deal?! Why waste it on some shit to launch his next season, JFC.

Yes I'm getting angry about space doctors telly >.<

Post-Library River Song? I swear if he takes my idea of River "whispering the Doctor's name" in the Libary and retcons it to her whispering "look in my eye" like the 11th did, thus meaning River was in a Teselecta and didn't really die, i'm going to be both giddy and angry at the same time.

Oh there's a much worse rumour flying around on how he is going to do it, I didn't want to post it earlier but wth...
Clara is either the girl/CAL from the library or even worse, is River put into a new body after the library...

Forgot to add this to the previous post, in the spirit of the most recent episodeTrouble at mill?
