I really enjoyed the first part of the season, even the Doctor-lite episodes. The finale though...what a train wreck. I get what RTD was trying to do and he even quotes The Last Jedi and Rey being 'nobody' as an influence for the whole arc, but looking back at the earlier parts of the 'mystery' should have been an 'ahhhhh' moment and was instead a 'fuck you!'. There's a difference between misdirection and outlight lies. In talking about the episode over the last day we've gotten progressively more annoyed by the things that just do not make any sense unless you just wave your hand at it and say 'Because Sutekh'.

The problem has been more the scripts and writing than the actors to be honest, although actors can do much to elevate crap. You really started to see a downswing during the Capaldi era, but we sort of forget a lot of that because Gomez as Missy was fantastic and Capaldi got some solid scenes, like in the Husbands of River Song and when he mistakenly makes a Dalek hate other Daleks because his own hatred from the Daleks is so pure.
I'm hard pressed to think of any standout episodes post Capaldi.

They went from 10 million views per episode during the Matt Smith era to just 2 million with Shitty Gatwa. I mean what the fuck do you expect when the show runner and the star himself told the audience that if they didn't like it, then they didn't want them to watch and they should go outside and touch grass.
Every single time they say they don't want you to watch their stuff. People get pissed and don't watch. Every viewer should be treated fairly. Not dismissed. If they say your show sucks, ask them to watch it first before judging . Don't fucking tell your audience to go away. People who weren't offended before, are now.
