I was in a match yesterday and we got a notice at like 30 minutes saying it was safe to leave because CM had left the game. But, she was still in game and was out in the river placing wards, and chatting. She never left the game or disconnected or anything. Bug I guess?

Na, "feature". You're considered afk if you haven't gained xp for the past 5mins, to prevent people hiding in the woods and going afk. Downside of this system is in some very rare cases, it flags supports who are not doing shit for a long period of time, or people stacking ancients but not killing them. I've never been flagged once but I could see if you play super passive support like I used to when I started watching comp games back in HoN, it could happen sometimes. Most of the time I'll just be killing something in the jungle if there's nothing else to do because why not, just kite the mobs it takes a while but it's something.

On the mute reports that seems about what was expected I think? Only thing is I assume the number of reports scale with the number of games, and assuming you say nothing all game you shouldn't be reported too often that you get muted, but I guess a bad streak of retards or picking a stomper over and over and well stomping people would get you muted without saying anything. Then again if you could play multiple games without saying anything and you get muted, then just keep playing without saying anything? The only time being muted sucks is if you have to discuss lanes/picks before the game starts and roshan timer and a few rare cases.

So, faggots, how the fuck does it feel to be wrong?
http://www.reddit.com/r/DotA2/commen...f_his_own_new/

Fuck all of you stupid pieces of shits. I told you the fucking system was broke, I fucking told you, you could get chat banned for literally not saying anything.

Fuck you
Fuck you
Fuck you
Fuck you
That's about what I expected, the only thing that's broken it should check if you actually said anything, because this is kinda dumb. If you want the abusers to not just make new accounts and continue their behavior, you need to punish them quickly. LoL works the same way IIRC, one report is enough to get new accounts into tribunal.

So getting reported two matches in a row (with 10 matches played) = mute. That's consistent with dev communication, and doesn't mean that you can get muted from a single game like some clowns here have asserted.

Sure, maybe the system could actually check if you've said something to accept a communication abuse report, but really - how often do you think you get reported for communication abuse without actually saying anything?

Thing is if you have a retard spamming mic, you report him for that, and he hasn't typed anything and it's not like they can check audio so yeah.

Then check for mic activity ?
Assuming that's possible sure. Thing though is it should automatically discard enemy reports if you haven't talked in all chat during the game(remove last 30secs-1min in case you say gg and you get reported for that). Can do a bunch of shit for team reports but overall if you get reported by your own teammates it's likely that you have said something, even if it wasn't directed at them, like calling miss or whatever, and then you're fucked regardless. Anyway it's a shitty system.

I think it's a great system, especially when people show their last game and say they got muted for that, or because they talked against 3 friends on the team. Valve said it looks at your reports over time and multiple reports for single game have no effect. People only see the last game, not the 10 before that...

The shitty part is that it punishes the muted player's team as much as that player himself. A player with no communication ability is far less useful to the team.

Not sure how to get around that, though. Maybe allow pings, but with a harsher throttle.

It's a really bad system when people can be punished for doing absolutely nothing wrong. I really don't care if it's effective, of course it will be when it has greatly suppressed all communication in the game. Yeah there's a few less ragers, there's also a lot less communication in general, less teamwork (not just from muted, but basically everyone. The best way to not be the target of reports is just to not even try communicating)

I would like to see something with some element of positive reinforcement.

I also don't think it would be too incredibly hard to parse all chat and isolate disruptive players by their chat habits. Those that type way too much, who use all chat more than anyone else, let alone popular key words and phrases.

No, it wouldn't work with voice, but that's still not a convincing argument for a system so open to abuse as this one. For all the talk about Valve wanting to lessen negative experiences they sure don't seem to care about the negative experience of being punished for doing absolutely nothing wrong. I know it's personally stopped me from spending any money on dota 2 lately

Good games today with the Alienware Cup wrapping up...

Orange destroyed NaVi earlier this morning, although they were really well played matches. Artyk upset Fnatic, Rat in the Dark beats Alliance, NaVi has lost quite a few matches lately...

Zenith vs. TongFu right now, great draft in first game - love watching these teams play. XY playing Invoker mid, should get interesting.

Yeah, I knew that mute system was garbage. I tried telling you bros, but honestly I only raged in this game maybe twice. My first mute was a result of ...I dont know, but it def wasnt from disrespecting ppl on the mic or text. (I would say it was from playing well, but ...yeah) The second mute might of been from a rage episode, but either way, my last mute wasnt at all warranted.

Besides, what if you have say, 3 games in a row where the enemy team are a bunch of faggots and you happen to get reported in all 3 games, even though you didnt do shit. How is that fair, or working as intended?

Yeah the second unwarranted auto-ban was actually the reason I quit dota a couple months ago, haven't been back since. Now that it's out in the open how broken this system is Valve will have to do something about it, sure it will take them a year or two to fix it. But hey, maybe some time in the future I can come back to the game.

games are actualy a lot worse with this auto mute system...If it's not me that's muted to try to get teamwork going and say what lanes im picking or when im trying to kill someone, etc, then it's one of the other guys that acts like he's playing a 1v5 game doing whatever the fuck he wants.

It is horrible and needs to get taken out. Whoever thought muting people in a massive teamwork based game was a good idea is probably a fucking suit in an office that plays single player CoD at home or something and got yelled at by little kids the one time he tried to play online.

Also, my friend got a 24h mute because HIS friend raged at someone in a game. My friend said nothing at all and got muted because their teammates blanket reported both of them... Oh yeah and my friend himself didn't get muted at all... Cool system.

I decided to give it another whirl, found myself playing for hours haha. I tried skeleton king and I just don't like him. Went back to clockwerk and just really enjoy playing him, no idea if he's even any good but I find his mechanics interesting. Had a game where one dude on voice chat basically coached me to victory. Next game some dude was pissed at me but when he found out I was new he coache me too. Much better reaction than I got in LOL.
You're in for a really fun long term experience if it has hooked you. I think you'll find that if you're open to advice people tend to be helpful, Just ignore the retards that just want to bitch about the rest of their team, that's why they are in the same skill bracket you are. They might have more knowledge but not necessarily better grasp of the actual game.
