Spirit Breaker as a support sounds kinda meh but could work I guess. Abaddon who's coming tonight is a good support if you wanna dive shit(in HoN he was Accursed), Nyx is nice to find solo kills even when you're playing as a support(if you played HoN, Nyx is the hero Fayde was inspired by, even though they changed a lot of shit eventually), Lion/Lina(WH/Pyro) are always good to grab kills every now and then and can be deadly with a blink dagger or a force staff. Sand King(Magmus) is king of crazy escapes. Ogre Magi(Blacksmith) is a really tanky support and with Bloodlust you have fairly good mobility too. I think there's quite a few good picks if you want to play an agressive support instead of squishy CM/kotl/veno/venge etc.

Funny enough all the supports I listed were in HoN so you should know them, but some of them were changed quite a bit in the process. Other heroes that can be played as supports and can semi carry would be like Windrunner or Naga Siren.

I really enjoy range, as in my bracket, the lowest bracket there is, harrassing while creeping is a lot of fun. Sets up for some early lane kills if you can get someone down long enough and get them to over extend. Again, in my low bracket that happens quite a bit more I think than in higher brackets.

I do know all of those heroes. Great advice, I really appreciate it. Played HoN for way longer than Dota2, but never could play "enough" of any one hero to say I was good with them.

Thanks again.

Tanky support sounds pretty good, so I might give Ogre Magi a try or Sand King some more. I for sure love the supports you listed compared to the squishy ones.

They shouldn't be. It's like some people love Mortal Kombat but hate Street Fighter and vice versa. To each his own but still a very similar game.

Sometimes I absolutely hate this game. Start a game as spec and bh follows me top, asks me to go pull and then competes with me for last hits.

Was a quick loss.

I don't know what's worse:
-Having awful teammates feeding or just failing to play intelligently and knowing you are destined to lose
-Having an awful start and knowing you are destined to lose
-Seeing the picks and knowing you are destined to lose
-Having the advantage but then the team wants to farm or try to one man army, losing the advantage, and watching the other team snowball

The 10% of games where the above happens but you manage to pull out a victory makes those situations worth it, but dota definitely offers a unique set of frustrations compared to almost any other game out there. Then you'll get a 5 game streak of absolute crushing victories and feel like you are invincible before games like these bring you back to reality!

How come at any given time the highest viewer count on a person playing dota2, as opposed to some tournament rerun, is like 100 people?

Because the game is fun to play? There is so many professional dota tournaments, there is probably 20 hours of professional games played accross the globe every single day, you can devote your entire time watching dota, to watching new unspoiled top tier games. Single player streams just arn't that big of a draw given what they compete against. Just look how many concurrent tournaments are going on inside the client, the dates matches etc.

Hmm Merlini, Dendi and Singsing and people like that usually had around 2-5k viewers. I think mostly the difference is the constant tournaments though.

I mean if I look at my own habits, I haven't looked at a player's stream in like maybe 3months, and even then it was like watching Dendi or Merlini play one of the new hero for a couple of games, last time I watched a player's stream just to watch it was probably over a year ago. In LoL I used to watch streams pretty often, more or less everyday for a few hours, HotshotGG and Voyboy and that guy who was always drunk I forgot the name of. Difference is I still watch dota a few hours everyday, but I just watch iG getting crushed by VG or Na'Vi winning tournaments in china or that kind of shit, because of the sheer amount of pro matches being played everyday.

Been playing very regularly with Mr. Pub Dota on my pals list. Dunno where the fuck everyone else is. Lots of people solo queueing after waiting 3 minutes and not even dropping a word into the old channel.

The spread sheet is good but building your steam friends list and actually messaging people "hey when you get out, join us" works 100 times... well it actually just works nvm.

That's why you always gotta play with a stack.

I find playing solo much less stressful, at least you know the stupid has a chance to go away in the next game, instead of balancing your social skills and rage.

The purpose of the google document is to have any easy way to look up peoples skill brackets to know if a stack that you're making has a viable chance to be fun for all involved, Top heavy (skill) stacks can't afford to fill up with normal bracket players as the games you'll get won't be fun in general for anyone involved. I am almost always playing with someone when I queue. You can mass spam invite the channel members if they want to join they will.

If people accept invites you can always double check the skill distribution to make sure the game has a shot at being reasonably fun with a chance of success for all involved.

Is it like this for anyone else?
