D for attempt, A for effort and too much effort making it a solid F overall.
Back to business: I'm dismayed that XBoct would feel that way after having a 1st place and a pair of "2nd place" international finishes. These can become anyone's game very quickly based on good drafting and sometimes luck (not true luck, but how things often play out). I mean look what happened to iG after the years? Still bad ass but they certainly don't carry NaVi's prestige.
Going even in games with Alliance (who was practically unbeatable) and then losing on a final game in a base race? I mean. You can't hate yourself for that.
I think this International has inspired a lot of people to come back to the game and even suffer through the BR/Russian trollings of USEast/West. I think heroes like Furion/Io are entirely beatable and add more elements to the game that are sorely lacking in the other MOBA's.
That said, I'm sure Icefrog saw everything that went down. I think the pudge hook/chen recall is clever use of mechanics. The hook is indeed held onto by pudge at the time he's recalled. If anything, I think it could use a graphical update that someone "hooked" by pudge should be shown as ported back to the fountain. You're taking chen and pudge who are in estimation entirely snow ball heroes in pub games that can be shut down hard in unskilled hands. The realm you begin to enter is what the SC2 team runs into a lot and that's how do we balance the game for the Grandmasters but also the Bronze at the same time. Personally? The numbers don't lie on wisp. And in lower tier games I see someone who can do the Furion shuffle stomp games almost by themselves. My vote is also in favor that a skilled individual on a "special" hero (like wisp/NP/invoker) should be able to completely change and possibly win the game if he's that damn good.
This is true in pub as well as pro FPS matches, and my vote would be a very minor nerf to Wisp if any and no changes to NP.
Players will go back to the drawing board and find a more sure fire ways to shut down Wisp/NP/Bat hard as shit I'm sure from here and add that to their arsenal of strats. Praise the meta.
