Yeah, the timezone stuff just is the nature of having a globally competitive environment. No real way around it and I'm fine with them keeping it local. The game is huge world wide and I would probably bet that NA doesn't represent the largest proportion of players (or maybe it is by numbers, but not competitiveness?).
As to location consistency I think all these are a big plus in favor of the stability the major system brings. It allows for more steady relationships with individual hosts, cities, countries, and payouts, etc... If, and I mean -if- eSports continues to grow and become what it probably could be, I could eventually see a sort of rotating schedule of majors or even The International itself. But those are big ifs. It also motivates the companies and hosts to stay engaged and invest in dota to remain a Major sponsor. If ESL starts slacking and runs a shitty event or drops off, maybe Dreamhack becomes the Major, or FaceIT, or IreLAN! Haha...
Anyways, hopefully this year works out well and things seem good to start off.
