Saying gay gay instead of gg + other stupid stuff I never got why he is so popular. Bulldonger owns chingchonger

He's not actually saying gay, he's just mispronouncing 'g'. I'm the total opposite, i'm greatly entertained by Sing but find every other streamer isn't the slightest bit entertaining. For Bulldog he's basically a live version of twitch chat, and we all know what that is...

Valve released a bunch of videos from their Steamworks Development conference. One of the cool ones is the presentation by their Experimental Psychologist and how they use different principles to develop games, they focus on things withing Counter Strike: GO and Dota. Worth a watch. Guy is umm... not the best presenter, but seems to know his stuff. Watched it with the wife who is a PhD in Psychology and worked with cognitive behavioral stuff, so she filled in some gaps along the way. Anyways, thought there may be some interest:

Pretty much how I feel too, although I just watch youtube videos and not streams. Bulldog is funny on a couple occasions but generally just like you said, memes and twitch chat stupidity. The youtubes i've watched of Sing in his solo queues aren't as good as the ones he has with gorgc/secret and the other guys he plays with. Those ones crack me up (and the low prio games).

Yea, the solo queue streams from Sing aren't typically that interesting unless he queues into someone he knows. I wish Tucker, Arise, bangfish, etc would join the stack still.

This more sensitive report system seems problematic, Sing was in LP, got out won 8 games then mid queue he gets dropped back into LP.

Best case scenario, they let you or tell you to mid... and you don't suck.

More than likely though, they will flame you from the start, make you play bottom bitch to their safelaner and then proceed to blame all their miss plays on you.

It would be great if you knew there was a 4stack, since mine seems to fuck around, whereas they came to murder innocents. You do an innocent dive on their mid and suddenly 4 TPs. Never happens in pubs otherwise.

Say it ain't so. I have always hated Arc Warden, even when the hero was an under powered cuck.

How is this game doing these days?

I used to play a fair amount but I was never very good. About 6 months ago, I had some connection issues one night and ended up dropping some games and got placed in low-priority. Whatever the number was, I think I had to win 5 low priority games and I won the first 4 quickly. I then lost like 7 games in a row and ragequit on the last one when we had the opponents T2s down early, a nice curbstomping, and 2 of our players went AFK and we got rolled.

There's a lot of kerfuffle around Low Priority and the Report system at the moment. Valve seems to be making changes to adjust the way getting placed in Low Prio works and modifying the amount of reports you have to hand out. Reddit is awash in tears of people being put in Low Prio for "no reason."

Personally I haven't seen it, and that includes trying to play at 3:30am after the election while shit faced hammered and feeding on Jugg.

Otherwise I'd say fairly healthy overall? The Boston Major is coming up in a month so interest is high. Lots of team shuffling and drama going around still. Normal Dota things.

Abandons will get you low priority a lot faster than random people reporting you (probably mostly due to the fact that 90% of the toxic morons who scream about reporting people don't actually have any available reports) and disconnects lead to abandons.

I have 2500+ games logged. I got my first punishment about a month ago. It was in a ranked game, where I was playing safelane melee-carry against two ranged harass heroes. A Peruvian last picks Pudge on my team and goes safelane with me as my "support". We got utterly dominated the first 10 minutes of the game, both of us dying 2x each and I got about 6 last hits total. He is shit talking me the whole time, turning the other 3 teammates against me. I never lost my cool, I rationally just tried to explain the the situation... LOL like that worked. They all reported me and I was instantly sent to low-pro.

The problem is that their system is setup to punish bad behavior, but their players use it to punish what they perceive as bad play. That is fundamentally fucked up.

I really wish they would implement an incentive system rather than a disciplinary one. Kind of like the Tip system that compendium users get to use. Every game you win, you get to give 3 tips away to teammates and in the games you lose you get to give away 1 tip. If you collect 20 tips, you get to spin the wheel for a prize.

The best way to train a dog is to give it small treats for obeying commands, not beat the fuck out of it.

Yeah, if you have seen the video I posted earlier there's no doubt they go over those data. Their experimental psychologist talks about the report system and how they've gamed it in the past to determine the impact to players and frequency of reports. It is very much a work in progress, but at least they have people working on it and try to adjust these things. There was even a job opening I tried to convince my wife to apply to so we could move up there and work for Valve! She wouldn't though :( :(

Ironically Montreal is about a 2-hour drive from here but I haven't been following the tournament at all, as soon as I found out you'd only see the grand final if you attend...

While NP has looked pretty good recently I wouldn't have expected them to beat EG, maybe just the # of games NP has been playing has helped them learn to play as a team.
