First of all, the ProteinWorld thing. Here's a company who realized that by pissing a lot of people off, they would get a shit-ton of angry publicity which would in turn lead to a wave of support for them that would never have existed without the offended party. Where have we seen that tactic before? (Hint: It rhymes with Shmarkleesian and in that case, the offended party included many posters on this board.)

And I AGREE that the "if someone feels they have been harassed it is harassment" policy is terrible. I agree! But when someone has to intentionally throw logic and reason out the window (INTENTIONALLY!) to support your point, how can you keep the title of "good guy" in your conflict?

Yes, it sucks when some nutjob SJW makes a big deal out of something. It sucks even more when the media seems to support that nutjob without even attempting to verify basic facts. But I promise you, I PROMISE YOU, you will not fix that shit by ALSO making big deals out of nothing. Ridiculing and shaming others is fun. Sucks that we evolved that way, there are certainly reasons why we have this trait, and the internet (and the anonymity it gave us) allowed us to indulge in it indefinitely. Just like having instant access to infinite porn has certainly led to a dramatic increase in the amount of fapping, infinite opportunity to act like an asshole and not be held accountable has led to a dramatic increase in the number of people acting like assholes.

It just rustles my jimmies to no end how often I see people trying not only to justify this behavior, but explain how it is a necessary tactic in this culture war, when in actuality all it does is give those you consider your opponents more power and influence (see: Proteinkeesian). To be fair, some people like Bisi and AngryGerbil have made it pretty clear they are in it for the lulz and don't believe themselves to be part of some righteous crusade. If they don't actually care that they are strengthening those they are ridiculing, then what possible problem could I have? But when I see the likes of Sebudai and Big Phoenix parading around on the highest of horses, believing they are actually part of the solution, you better believe I find it hard to stay silent. Guess that's why you needed someone to silence me, huh?

Really, Quaid? You don't think they realized there is growing anti-SJW sentiment and that this could be exploited for their benefit? All the new customers they got (including at least a couple of posters here) were not part of their "already loyal customer base". They were people who had never heard of the company before and at least in some cases didn't even have any need for their product. They were people who were happy to see a company not only take a stand against SJW bullshit, but do it with snark and attitude.

I'm not saying they don't believe in the stance they are taking. I'm just saying it's still a marketing campaign designed to target angry assholes looking to stick it to SJWs. It's exactly like how Anita managed to get a shit-ton of support from SJWs who don't know or care about games, but felt compelled to support her once they saw how the angry asshole crowd was treating her.

Again, internal bias means if you find yourself on either side (SJW or anti-SJW), you are already convinced you are in the right. You have plenty of examples of the "other side" spouting ignorant garbage (even if that comes from a vocal minority who we'd be better off ignoring completely). You can use the ignorance and anger displayed by the "other side" to justify your own ignorance and anger (see: Big P's post). And obviously, OBVIOUSLY, there's no need to consider whether the "other side" has made any reasonable points. You certainly shouldn't consider whether your own side has picked a few of the wrong battles to focus on. After all, doing so would be a sign of weakness, right? The other side will jump right on that shit and claim victory, so you have no choice but to NEVER GIVE AN INCH. Of course, now we're left with 2 "sides" trying to out-stupid each other and feeling entirely justified in doing so.
