True say man. True say.I don't know what you've seen in the recent FF to think they'd do anything other than rape your memories of the characters
SJWs would have a field day with Barret.

It's their failsafe. SE won't make another FF7 because they know how massively successful it will be. They're saving it for a time when their bank account is in the red and they have to make their final stand.I'll never figure out why Squenix ignores the goldmine that is the FF7 IP. Pretty much the only batch of (Final Fantasy) characters they have created that resonated with the masses, and that have spawned spinoff products in the west.
Not making another Final Fantasy in the FF7 world with FF7 characters is just stubbornness at this point.
FF7 doesn't need a sequel, though. What story is left to tell?If they put resources into an FF7 remaster instead of a true FF7 sequel I'd just write Squenix off forever. That would be a truly dumb decision and such a waste of potential.
That game was not a true sequel in my mind. I don't understand why all dev studios decide to take great titles and make handheld, or worse fucking mobile exclusive titles on the IP and fuck up massively. Blows my mind. In all honesty though, for what it was - it was okay. It was just definitely not something I could consider true 'sequel' material. That Tactics sequel on GBA sucked. If I had any confidence they could make a worthy successor to Tactics, I'd be all over that. That game was astounding prescient in its focus on fundamentally addictive microgrinding for massive power gains. Rpg's still haven't caught up to it
I loved FFTA and FFTA2. Granted, I have yet to play the original, but I'm getting it on my phone soon since it just released for Android. That Tactics sequel on GBA sucked. It was honestly probably fine, but Nintendo Nintendoized it. They're the hest developers in history, imo, but they used to have a tendency to kiddify games that migrated over to their platforms. Tactics Advance dropped the delightfully incoherent and convoluted plot that oddly endeared me to the original. Plot was some shit about its characters getting sucked into a video game or something.Wow, I completely forget A2 even existed. How was it?
Anyone want to share their DS with me in exchange for something else? Lol. I gotta play it...
edit; Reviews look amazing and wiki looks good but of course reviews for anything Square Enix are uhh, not entirely representative of general playerbase. (cough)

I thought Advance was good, but A2 is REALLY GOOD. The way they incorporate both screens so that you can view the battlefield and menus at the same time is definitely a strong point of combat. Plus, laws are way more relaxed, everyone hits more often (with positioning offering damage reduction instead of evasion) and they use a really cool MP system to balance spellcasters. (Everyone starts with 0 MP, but you regenerate 10 per turn.)It was honestly probably fine, but Nintendo Nintendoized it. Yeah, I just watched a short Let's Play and it is entirely some 3rd grader shit. Not much I won't overlook in favor of Tactics gameplay, but the original Tactics story is still on my top of all time favorites even almost 20 years later. It what it is. That's kind of what I'm talking about though, why can't we just see even a continuation of Tactical RPGs in the FF realm if not a true sequel? Just a REAL fucking game, none of this weird ass offshoot shit. Maybe I'm asking for too much, but a brother can dream. It was honestly probably fine, but Nintendo Nintendoized it.
