Yeah, I just watched a short Let's Play and it is entirely some 3rd grader shit. Not much I won't overlook in favor of Tactics gameplay, but the original Tactics story is still on my top of all time favorites even almost 20 years later. It what it is. That's kind of what I'm talking about though, why can't we just see even a continuation of Tactical RPGs in the FF realm if not a true sequel? Just a REAL fucking game, none of this weird ass offshoot shit. Maybe I'm asking for too much, but a brother can dream.
No, even though they're in elementary/middle school, it gets pretty dark. Also, they leave the school forever after like the first 10 minutes of gameplay and then it's all Final Fantasy world.

Who's SquareEnixPresents? Is it an official PR channel? Cause the whole Chrono Trigger teasing stuff sounds kinda bullshit.

My hype is up considering Square(soft) have a lineup of some of my all time favorite RPGs, and so many iconic ones. I think I will be disappointed though. Square Enix has started making so many other titles, while their RPGs have declined in quality (especially since the Soft days). I have lost hope of seeing Xenogears, FFT, FF 7 or anything of the likes again. Except perhaps as mobile/handheld remakes which isn't the format I would want for those games.

My favorite Square was the orginal playstation days.
They had a ton of games out of for all genres, and all high quality hits.

Playstation had FF franchise with tactics, Parasite Eve, Xenogears, Erghiez, Tobal, Bushido Blade, Saga Frontier, Front Mission,Einhander, Brave Fencer Musashi, Legend of Mana, Vagrant Story etc

Well one of them should be Kingdom Hearts 3. Technically announced, but if they have something to show, that's a surprise. Then there's definitely a Chrono Trigger related one, the music and there's a tidbit about time travelling. Other than that not sure, Deus Ex gameplay maybe. Bravely Default 2 release dates? I think they publish that right? That'd be pretty good stuff already.

That game was not a true sequel in my mind. I don't understand why all dev studios decide to take great titles and make handheld, or worse fucking mobile exclusive titles on the IP and fuck up massively. Blows my mind. In all honesty though, for what it was - it was okay. It was just definitely not something I could consider true 'sequel' material.
Because they're businesses, they like money, and mobile gaming (handhelds and phones) >>>>>>>>> console/PC gaming in terms of profits.

It's really notthatdifficult a concept to grasp.

Yeah, that was definitely a Squaresoft blunder. FFT sold 2.5m on a console at a higher pricepoint, FFTA sold 2.2m on a handheld at a lower pricepoint, and FFTA2 sold sub 1m with a higher development cost and lower pricepoint than the first game. Had FFT remained on consoles (specifically the PS2) it would be a much stronger world brand than it has been since it left Sony, and definitely more profitable. The kiddyfying that happened to market it to Nintendo players did damage to the IP, as the world wasn't designed for the lightheartedness that existed heavily in the "sequels" and didn't appeal to people who had played the original.

Oh right, because Square Enix releasing another Tactical RPG wouldn't make any fucking money. You sound fucking stupid right now.

edit; I mean honestly I get your point, but God you're just such a cunt about it.

I rank FFTA as one of the worst things to ever happen to me, and the world at large.

Gay and wrong.
If you're a big fan of characters with zero depth, a combat system with zero depth and having to intentionally go out of your way to find any semblance of challenge then FFT is for you.

You can cherrypick an ostensibly valid criticism and deploy it to slam pretty much any game you want. Mario and Zelda fail on all 3 of your criticisms, Halflife on two, GTA on two to three, Witcher on two, etc etc

Original FFT is a good game, but Tactics Ogre came first and was superior in every way.
The main problem with Tactics Ogre is that you can probably play it for 10,000 hours and still be trying to complete some obscure side quests that provides resolution for the 47th character, but only if you beat that battle in 3 rounds, that one using only dragons and a third one where N?47 must be the sole survivor when the battle is over (I am almost not exaggerating). It's great, but at some point too much is too much. We have lives Mr Matsuno!
