I've been using the Page summon which is fairly beefy and the now shots taunt fairly well against many bosses. Since she's ranged I can plonk her down somewhere in an open clearing and then when she pulls aggro I can lob rocks at the boss until he notices me again.

For ashes you get this duo puppets that wreck if you don’t like the mimic I recommend them.

also curious if anyone has gotten to that large gael area where you have to light the three torches on the rooftop. There is two dudes that are complete bullshit, worse then any boss.

there are invisible assassins that grab and stab you for like 1200 health, they stay invis unless you hit them. They will even chain grab you...

Question... Does items only drops off bosses if you kill them solo? Killed magma wyrm in a group and he didn't drop the katana or the dragon heart.

Just lost a little over 10k souls playing Mario Bros in one of the mines trying to get an item that you gotta jump platforms to get too. By the end the Mario death music played in my head every time I went splat.

It's the one in the Gale Tunnel that drops moonveil katana.

edit: I found out why. You have to host the game in order to get loot. I had to watch a YT video to find how to host a game. Will try later again tonight.

That's me in the earlier Monster Hunter games (3 and 4). I can't lock on anything so I spent most of my short playtime swinging at air. Probably gonna give up on those, which is sad cause I know people who swear by them and that I'd love them if I gave them a chance. No lock-on in a Souls-like battle system is so dumb though.

What's that 47 dex katana called?

And what's the item to forge a weapon to max called? Looked up Smithing Shard +9, Smithing Slab, Smithing Stone Slab, nothing.

I have not had a ton of time to play this, so way behind most of you guys. Clearing minibosses and overland bosses, while lighting camps, has been most of what I have done. Gakked the gold halberd horse asshole around L27, cleared the sea castle to the south with the berserk 2h sword werewolf boss. Brute forced Magrit with the Claymore. Currently getting chain assraped by Godrick at L29. Think I need to back out and grind.

My biggest issue thus far with this game is the amount to which even trash cancels into feints and how many early bosses chain rush (which would frustrate the fuck out of me if I was going caster). Open world and lack of hollowed bullshit makes up for that. Horse combat seems wonky, but I may just need to git gud at it.

for some weapons you can hold heavy attack to rear your weapon back like a polo player and swat them just as you ride by. secondary attack swats the left side.

Also Torrent can stop and turn 180 on a dime, makes jousting easier and faster than thinking you have to do a big U turn

not a stupid question, I think a lot of people are wondering the same thing right now with how much post-release ER hype there is.

If you pick a solid starter build, follow a guide or two on easy early game loot, progress through the game by doing the easy content first, the game is not that difficult. So far I haven't run into anything that difficult in the game and a lot of the people complaining about Godrick or Margit probably haven't seen all the easy content available to them and are reaching beyond their grasp.

NPC quest spoilers:

Was anyone able to save Rogier? I thought for sure once I had the curse mark thing I could use it to fix him, but he was dead by the time I got back and left me a note about some brother down in Nokrom.

Finished up Ranni today, the big cosmic cockroach was pretty sick. There's no way to work this that prevents Blaidd for going insane is there? Given how he's created by/loyal to the fingers I guess and Ranni definitely is not.

Fia ambushed me with a bunch of ghosts like a bitch, but how can I resist hugs afterwards? Not sure if she has anything more now though, she just sits there repeating the same lines now.

So has anyone found a somber [7] before mid/late game? Really annoying to be carrying around multiple 8 and 9 with no way to use them.

I haven't yet, found a few 8s I believe and 4 /5s, but Im trying to do Rannis quest and at the Radahn part after clearing out the manor. I dont know if that is considered mid game yet or not, there's just so much to find, I love it but it makes it really hard to gauge progress.

Level 61 with +11 weapon if that matters?

Rogier is doomed unless you read a guide early on. You need to view his bloodstain in the basement of Stormveil, where the face of Godwyn and the Ulcerated Tree Spirit are before progressing his quest line. This allows you to keep him alive to see the curse mark. That said, with him dieing, you can give it to Fia if you have done her questline up to that point. Which is talking to her while hugging and giving the dagger to D so she kills him. She then has more dialogue after the Tree Depths battle. You can then reload the area and enter her dream, or Godwyn's dream more specifically, where he relives his battle against the Lich Dragon. Win that and Fia will die and birth a Death Rune, that you can use for a different ending.

Hrm, does doing these Volcano Manor missions cut off any endings like the blood paths in d2/3 did?
